The Freeborn Domari Head To The Battlefields Of Gates Of Antares
June 3, 2015 by brennon
Warlord Games have added another preview this week for Beyond The Gates Of Antares with a look at the Freeborn Domari Squad which you can check out below...
Mag Weapons Charged
The Freeborn maintain a neutral stance among the other factions of the galaxy and so that affords them a bit more freedom with their trading ventures. They are constantly craving power and influence in the game world.
When the Freeborn head to war they not only draw upon mercenary forces but also from within their own households. While having access to all the weapons in the galaxy they still look for practical and cost effective ways of arming their military.
"The Domari are the core of most Freeborn forces. Squads are armed with mag weapons in the main, they can be supplemented with the heavier Micro X-launcher. The colour scheme you see here is that of the Oszon Mercantile League – colours vary from house to house, as do sigils and ornamentation."
More Freeborn will be coming out over the next few weeks and months so keep an eye out if this faction as drawn your attention.
What do you think?

Waiting on more of the range, quite like these. Rules are good, just waiting for that will breaker faction 🙂
Gates of Anaters is going to be an interesting game. Sci-Fi skirmish with real solid game mechanics.
Not sold on these mini’s either. Could be the paint, or maybe the faces. Some people just shouldn’t paint eyes.
reckon it’s the paint, blurs quite a few of the lines which otherwise ought to look quite good…
Getting a very Dune ‘Freeman’ vibe from these guys.
I agree that there is definitely a Fremen feel to these minis, though sadly I think that 300 meter long alien sandworms will probably not feature in the Freeborn arsenal… 😉
The game rules for Antares are really solid, being an adaptation and further development of the excellent Bolt Action ruleset, and the game’s setting and factions are going from strength to strength whenever Rick Priestly gives us a look at the work in progress.
All indications are that this game will make some serious waves in sci fi wargaming when it is released later this year.
