The Free Folk Call On Their Spearwives For CMON’s A Song Of Ice & Fire
January 9, 2019 by brennon
CMON are continuing to add to the A Song Of Ice & Fire line-up with all manner of supporting units for the various factions. The Free Folk are seeing some new reinforcements this month with the Spearwives being released on January 25th.
As the rather awesome Eowyn in a very different franchise said: "The women of this country learned long ago, those without swords can still die upon them". The set is looking great, giving you a band of wild women to go skirmishing around the flanks of the enemy army to hit the enemy where it hurts.
I think you could have a lot of fun painting these miniatures, getting their weather-worn armour and clothing looking just right and then going to down on their wild hair too. Add in some freehand tattoos and you'd have some fierce fighting women to throw at your opponent.
Looking at this set and some of the other releases I could also see this range being great for those looking to play a lot of different skirmish games out there too. You could potentially work these miniatures into Rangers Of Shadow Deep if you could find equally proportioned enemies and the like.
Have you been delving deep into A Song Of Ice & Fire as a tabletop game?

Those look really good.
These minis are great, but I wish they would consider doing multi part kits. I’ve done some lite conversion work on my Nights Watch guys, but its hard to do too much given how the figures are molded. If I evere do a Stark force, I’ll likely use the Fireforge fantasy minis.
Nice an interesting are they out of the last series still being filmed/edited ?
Really cool models. Lots of ideas for using in other games as well.
Really like the wildling look, and its nice to see some realistically shaped women. These look great and like you said would fit right in with an absolute ton of ranges. I have to agree with some of the commenters though, I would really like to start seeing this team put out multi part kits.
I have just taken the plunge with this game. Excited to get some of these and try them out once my Free Folk starter set arrives.
