Forge World Introduce New House Goliath Characters To Necromunda
February 12, 2020 by brennon
The team at Forge World are joining forces with Games Workshop once more to produce a range of new character models for Necromunda. House Goliath can form some new alliances with the likes of House Greim or the Slave Guild and this can lead to some fun team-ups.

Forge World are going to be releasing four new models soon, the Chain Lord, Shaklemen and two different Pit Fighters. As with pretty much all of the releases from Forge World for Necromunda, I think they have hit the nail on the head. The characters we've seen created have loads of personality and help add another level of command to your Necromunda gang. Rules for the new models that we looked at earlier in the week and I'm sure these additional allies are going to be popping up in House Of Chains.
A Road Map For Necromunda
As well as the new models for House Goliath, Games Workshop also showed off their road map for Necromunda which will see new books arriving for some of the core factions.
So, you're going to be able to snag yourself a book packed with rules and fluff for House Escher, Orlock and finally Van Saar. As mentioned yesterday, these additional books work like codices for the different factions, giving you a bunch of new options for building a gang.
Are you going to be snapping up one of these books for your House?

Like the Guilders, but I dread to think of how much they are going to charge for these….
Ahhh I can almost remember a day when GW used to actually sell self contained games.
It’s like Video Game DLC the way the manage their products these days!
As far as I believe these won’t be ‘essential’ so if you’re looking to just play with the base gangs within your group you don’t have to punt for these extra books/models.
Exactly. You can play Necromunda as a very self contained game using a) Core book and Gangs of the Underhive and thus have a very “classic” necromunda game (sans extra gangs/campaign options etc) b) Buy Dark Uprising and have a self contained game about Enforcers vs Corpse Grinders. There is literally now more in the game books than Necromunda ever had before; more gang options, more hired guns (many of them named), more weapons, more campaign types. But all of that is optional. If you want to run a campaign you can keep it to the core 6 gangs, and… Read more »
So just to be clear as I still get confused – if I want to play as (without the frills) Goliaths, Escher, Orlocks, Delaque, Cawdor, and Van Saar I only need the Core Book and Gangs Of The Underhive and it provides plenty of options to build things up through a campaign?
If I want to pick up Corpse Grinders or Palanite Enforcers I get Dark Uprising or just the miniature boxes for each and the associated books (Ruin/Judgement)?
The Book Of Peril is JUST if I want to add more Hired Guns into the mix?
So…. Core Book – Rules and scenarios – 2d and 3d, Psyker rules and campaign rules (Dominion campaign). Gangs of the Underhive – Goliath, Escher, Orlock, Cawdor, Van Saar, Delaque, Includes all rules for weapons in that game and equipment etc plus hired guns. Book of Peril – Venator Gangs, Dangerous terrain, new scenarios, new Hired Guns, The Guilds and their fighters you can ally with, and new gear (ammo design to blow up dangerous plants etc) Book of Judgement (Law as I misname it) – Enforcers, Law and Misrule Campaign, Black Market trading post, even more hired guns and… Read more »
Cool – cheers!
I think Army books are DLC. When I was a more active player, we had CODEXes (in the case of WH40K) for races, now you have ones for each Chapter. Again yeah you can just play WH40K with Space Marines and not get bogged down in them being a particular chapter, but I am willing to wager if you own a Space Wolves army you are going to buy a Space Wolves book as well. I am not adverse to that in the world of 40K but I just feel you cannot flesh out Necromunda Gangs to the same level… Read more »
Back in 2e codex Space Wolves didn’t need Codex Space Marines. Codexes now are the same thing no?
I get that, I have no issue with them releasing “new” content – gangs, characters etc. But if they are just releasing additional content for existing gangs that’s a different matter. Why wasn’t that included in the base game? How many players who enjoy their respective gangs aren’t going to feel compelled to buy this? Let’s be honest most people who collect stuff tend also to be completists so if there is new stuff out there for your thing you are probably going to want to have it. How much extra are you getting in this House of Chains book… Read more »
See here is the issue. It has been a while since N17 boxed game, and the Gang War book messed up. The new hardbacks consolidated that and resolved a lot of issues. And over that time we have entirely new gangs and content. As they has been produced we are now at the point of revisiting the old gangs. I am sure that there is a lot of new stuff in these House books. Also we did get the Venators, Chaos and GSC gangs in WD. But…. there were issues. Serious ones that made no sense. So consolidating those has… Read more »
So, are you suggesting that we should forgive GW for getting their rules and the balancing of their games wrong? And rather GW giving us downloaded rules to correct their mistake, we should be happy that they are allowing us to play the corrected game – but only if we buy their new books? I am not saying any system or approach is perfect, but there does seem to by a business model at play here were we are drip feed content – which seemingly could just be included from the get go – and asked to constantly pay for… Read more »
I never said forgive. The mess of inconsistencies between Gang War books was annoying. The did put out for free a booklet that would allow that resolution to bring those books in line with the newer hard back books (I believe it was the same booklet that came with WD with the Delaque in there). The only thing right now that sucks for me is gang cards going out of print. And from talking to friends in the industry, printing has longer time frames (given GW doesn’t print in house) and GW likely has contracts and other products competing for… Read more »
very true on the FOMO front – and it’s definitely something GW are all in on with their limited run on things.
I hold my hands up to being obsessed with Blood Bowl, and I have spent way way over the odds on buying team themed pitches on EBAY.
I appreciate they are a business, but I just feel like they really are paying us a disservice as loyal customers by the manner in which they are choosing to release things.
Maybe it’s old age, but I certainly don’t remember it being this bad in the 90’s!
I’ve never heard of House Greim before, are they a new addition? Though since they mentioned Goliath is allying themselves with the Slavers’ Guild, does this mean that each house is going to have their own allied guild, like the Promethium Guild for Cawdor? I do like the look of the new guilder models, and I’m curious to see what’s coming down the pipeline in the future.

Thanks!
Edit: At first I thought the Lord of Chains was standing with his foot propped up on a pipe sticking out of the ground. Now I realize he just has a massive mechanical foot. I’m getting serious People Eater vibes from him the more I look.
Really do like these.
Nice looking new figures and rules.
