Footsore Miniatures are back to their Byzantines with Belisarius, a great new commander for you to include in your forces.

Belisarius - Footsore Miniatures

"Flavius Belisarius was a general of the Byzantine Empire. He was instrumental to Emperor Justinian's ambitious project of reconquering much of the Mediterranean territory of the former Western Roman Empire, which had been lost less than a century ago."

The model is rather nice indeed, riding forth atop his steed with sword held high, directing his troops to follow him into battle. He is often known as the "Last Of The Romans" and considered by many to be a military genius.

Running Byzantines in your games really does offer up quite the challenge when it comes to painting; a welcome one at that. You not only get to work with the standard set of colours for the period, dark chainmail and such but also throw in lots of stunning colours to match their Mediterranean lifestyle.

I don't think I could attempt the very intricate work on the cloth here but we'd love to see some of you give it a go.

Horse Archers...Not HORSE Archers...Nevermind...

Belisarius also comes out alongside a new set of Armoured Horse Archers for the Byzantine force as well.

So, if you're looking for some ways to flank your enemies and take them apart with archer fire, this might be a good way to go.

What do you think of Belisarius and the Byzantines?
