Flytrap Factory Meet At The Court Of The Goblin King
March 11, 2019 by brennon
Inspired by Scandinavian folklore, Flytrap Factory is on Kickstarter right now looking to fund their collection of miniatures for In The Court Of The Goblin King. Come and take a peek at these wonderful new characters and creatures.
The initial focus of the campaign is to work on the Goblin King himself here, lounging around on his throne deep within the mountains. He is then guarded by many a retainer, armed and protected with crude and dangerous looking weapons and armour
All of the miniatures have that nice 'Bonner' style to them with big bulbous noses. I could imagine having a lot of fun painting these and playing around with either lots of bright colours or some more muted tones, giving them the look of some of that classic artwork which inspired the miniatures.
A lot of these miniatures are available separately which is neat and over the past few days, they've been adding some new characters into the mix like this amazing Thistle Knight.
I have no idea how this fellow came to life but I think he looks quirky, weird, and absolutely awesome. Once again, the painting opportunities offered up by these miniatures should catch the eye of many a hobbyist.
Down within the dark of the mountain, you don't just find Goblins. Another of the unlocked miniatures for the campaign was this Kobold Emissary.
I was thinking about how you might use these characters in your games. Initially, I thought that they'd be great for role-playing games, or the basis for a Warlord Of Erehwon/Fantasy SAGA force but in the end maybe they don't need to be played with.
I think there are still many reasons to just pick up a few characters to paint for no other reason than to show them off on your mantlepiece. In saying that, I think this fellow would be pretty awesome to see barging around the battlefield.
Flytrap Factory creates some wonderfully characterful pieces and I think you'll have noticed that here in these previews from the Kickstarter. If you're interested in snapping these up for yourself the campaign is running for thirteen more days.
Will you be taking a look at this range?

Those are looking good. I can’t wait to see finished models.
Must say that I much prefer that Hoblin King to the one Peter Jackson gave us in the first Hobbit film.
very cool
