First Bioficer Ship Spotted For Dropfleet Commander’s New Edition
July 12, 2024 by brennon
TTCombat are sharing more previews for the new edition of Dropfleet Commander coming later this year. The new edition welcomes a new faction which was teased recently, the Bioficers, and we also got a look at a new ship this week.
Bioficer Cutter // Dropfleet Commander
This is the Bioficer Cutter which comes fitted with a deadly Gravitic Stave which looks like it could do some serious damage. This is going to be a versatile ship within the new edition of Dropfleet Commander and gives you an idea of the style of ships that the Bioficers are going to get.
Bioficer Cutter (Details) // Dropfleet Commander
The Bioficer Cutter is a rather deadly-looking craft and looks like an interesting mix between the sleek and the complicated. It almost looks like a big floating gun which I suppose a lot of Sci-Fi spaceships are when you strip it back.
Do you like the look of the Bioficer ships so far and will you be choosing them as your faction in the new edition? Do you just want to find an excuse to crack out all your old ships?

That looks like someone cut a PC memory stick into parts and re-glued them. When I did see that on facepage a few days ago I thought “this is a cool scratch build” XD
Won’t get them specifically, but will put my Scourge and UCM against them!
I like them, kinda. I have questions though, like why are there handles on what I assume are the engines and why are the engines pointing in directions that would contradict each other? Overall I like the aesthetic and even think the color scheme works very well on the design. I’ll probably get them, depending on the design and looks of the other ships.
At a guess, if it isn’t just a stylistic choice for ‘weird alien aesthetic’, this ship might have the vectored thrust rule allowing for it to change directions more easily?
Are we sure those are engines? They don’t look like they have anywhere to produce thrust from.
Well I saw someone describe them as looking like some form of “Space Mosquito”, that kind of fits in. And as a Cutter that means this is the smallest class of ship (other than fighters et al) in the game (again fiting in with the whole mosquito vibe). I did note however the base used. I can’t see any holes for pegs etc, so I wonder if the game is going to move away from the current signature mechanic to a more simplified combat system (akin to all the other games in the genre). It would be a shame if… Read more »
We don’t know much but the old bases were divisive and these are going to be cheaper to make. A long time ago TTCombat release an acrylic token set for tracking spikes and orbital layers which would work with these bases.

I don’t think those aspects are going anywhere otherwise it just wouldn’t be the same game. I think what will change is how deploying and fighting with ground units is handled as that was where things slowed down the most.
Thanks for the reply, I also wonder what the two fleets will be in the new starter set (if they do one). UCM vs PHR would be my pick, but I suppose they will go with Bioficer vs PHR (as these two fleets haven’t appeared as a starter set and might draw existing players into buying a set).
As others have said, mission variety was perhaps lacking with the old set of rules. I wonder if TT Combat have listened to the feedback and looked to mixing things up a little.
I like it. Looks like a cross between a bug and some manner of TIE vehicle from Star Wars.
