Firelock’s Blood & Bayonets Kickstarter Launches Tomorrow!
January 28, 2025 by brennon
Firelock Games' new Napoleonic warfare ruleset will be hitting Kickstarter tomorrow with Blood & Bayonets getting you stuck into some great scuffles between the British, French and more on both land and sea.
Blood & Bayonets // Firelock Games
Blood & Bayonets is set during the Peninsular Campaign portion of the Napoleonic Wars. You'll be able to take on the role of the French, British, Portuguese or Spanish in a range of skirmish battles taking place on land and sea.
Games will consist of between forty and sixty 28mm miniatures battling for control of key locations on land but you'll also be able to include several small ships for naval encounters which could take the form of ship-to-ship battles or actions where you're seeking to land and storm a dock or sea fort.

You can check out the campaign for yourself on the link above and HERE, getting yourself signed up so you're aware of when the Kickstarter launches. As mentioned previously about this game, it's a good idea to slot it in around the period of the Peninsular Campaign as there is a lot of scope for exploring those smaller skirmishes involving both the land and sea elements of the Napoleonic Wars.
Whether you're a fan of Sharpe, Hornblower (which is a little earlier) or you just like the idea of Napoleonic wargaming without the ranks and ranks of uniforms to paint, this could be worth checking out in more detail.
Keep an eye out for more on Blood & Bayonets when the Kickstarter launches!

Few things it needs to do for me: – keep the card activation mechanic, the other systems experimented with just don’t work as well – capture the larger line unit feel of the era, which all the marketing looks like it will – have a improved commander system, i feel this era would… Read more »
Is this going to be in 28mm?
Looks like a good possibility
>> Forces will consist of between forty and sixty 28mm miniatures
Is 40 to 60 miniatures still a skirmish game?
…. No? I don’t think so.
Sorry that should be “GAMES consist…”
So you’re probably looking at 20 odd miniatures per side, maybe a few more.
