Fireforge Showcase New Fusō Images For Battlefleet WWII
June 13, 2019 by cassn
Fireforge Miniatures are continuing to build up excitement for their upcoming Battlefleet WWII project with their latest teaser image. Battlefleet WWII will feature a full wargame ruleset and naval miniature range around some of the most notable high seas battles of the 20th Century.
This latest teaser showcases a painted model of the Fusō Battleship of the Japanese Imperial Navy. The Fusō was launched in 1914 and commissioned in 1915 but wasn't used as a warship until WWII where, despite modernization, it was regularly outclassed by other Japanese battleships. It was sunk in 1944 during the Battle of Surigao Strait.
Fireforge have paid honorable homage to this great old battleship with their sculpt. The 1: 1800 miniature will be available separate from the base, although naval fans will have to sadly wait until early 2020 before they can sail away with this ship, and the rest of Battlefleet WWII. In the meantime, head over to the Fireforge Facebook page for a closer look.

very nice many ship designs changed massively between the wars.
Bit brave of them to go for 1:1800 rather than the usual 1:2400, that means that players with existing Naval miniatures won’t be looking at them, and if players buy in they are stuck with one manufacturer.
HOWEVER with my failing eyesight and painting, anything that’s in a larger scale gets my vote 😀
agreed with the scale. although my ww1/2 ships are in 1/3000 rather than 1/2400 so this just wont fit for me.
Those are really nice.
1/1800 is going to be large and expensive
IJN Fuso – on of the few Japanese battleships that ever got into action … much to her regret. Surigao Strait is actually part of the larger Battle of Leyte Gulf, largest naval battle in history. Definitely my favorite naval battle of World War II … Surigao Strait specifically. A Japanese battleship force was absolutely f***ing smashed by an American battleship task force, crossing the “T” in classic fashion. Making matters even better, the American battleships included USS California, West Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania … all ships bombed and “sunk” at Pearl Harbor. Talk about payback. These ships were… Read more »
