FireForge Let Their Northmen Warriors Out The Box
August 21, 2018 by dracs
FireForge are getting ready for the launch of their Forgotten World Kickstarter next month and have now revealed the contents of their Northmen Warriors box.
The box allows you to make a full warband or unit of these hardy fighters, bringing with them a variety of equipment and stances.
A particularly nice touch is that they appear to come with both round and square bases, letting you adapt them for whatever games you might use them in.
You do get quite a grizzled impression of these warriors. All the head options are expressive and give you a good idea of their character, that of soldiers who have faced the worst and know they will have to face it again.
All in all, it's a versatile kit and one that I think fits well with many Euro-centric fantasy settings, including of course the one that FireForge themselves are working on.
Is this a Kickstarter you plan on supporting?

These chaps looks great and I can easily see them popping up all over in loads of different games.
I just wish GW returned to this more understated look.
I’m backing this when it kicks off.
This offers a lot of possibilities for other games too like Dragon Rampant, kitbashing for Frostgrave, your own GoT miniatures, Mordheim and Oathmark. Very cool!
Nice minis, looking forwards to these…. But why is it that we see the “fantasy/Sci-Fi tax” vs Historicals? I mean with Fireforge historical boxes the smallest foot box is 24 figs (biggest is 48 I think), yet the Fantasy box is only 12? It’s the same with Warlord, I can buy 10 metal fig WW2 squad boxes for £15, yet the Gates of Antaries ones you get just 5 figs. Always wondered where this fantasy/sci-fi “premium” started with companies that produce both historical and fantasy/sci-fi started (and to an extent why it continues). Bung 24 Northmen in a box for… Read more »
There is not a fantasy tax, simple these models are better in quality than usual fireforge historical sets and have a lot of option added to customize more your figures
I can sort-of second that, as cool as kits like the Fireforge sergeants are, you get a fraction of the options (about half perhaps?). The command elements can be expensive add ons to a kit and will help put the individual figure cost up. Fireforge have none the less said that these 12 figure packs ‘will naturally cost less than our current packs’ (costeranno naturalmente meno delle nostre attuali confezioni) in case the translation is off.
Those look really good.
Looks a good set off Models with plenty of variety to make Large units that’s realistic.
I really like these, the cavalry look great too. Cant think of a good reason to buy them though!
And i agree with @phaidknott, what is up with the number of guys in a box?
These models are a lot better than the previous stuff from fireforge so it looks like another good company upping their game.
Love’em. Even tho I will need more than a dozen..
These may prove useful mixed in with ASOIAF miniatures… Definitely checking these out.
I foresee a use for all those old 40K Space Wolf decals….
Don’t they have strange proportions? With their short legs they look more like squats on a diet than humans.
I think thats caused by the long quilted coats theyre wearing; makes their legs look short.
