Final Sculpts For Afterlife’s Commandos & Pulse Mechs Arrive!
April 14, 2015 by brennon
Anvil Industry have shown off the final sculpts for both the Republic Pulse Mechs and Commandos that will be rocking out in the world of Afterlife and beating those Unity Council soldiers into the dust!
Pulse Mechs Online
First up we have the Pulse Mechs who are looking a lot more animated that I imagined they would be from the renders that we'd seen. See what you think...
Above you can see the Veteran landing atop that huge part of terrain alongside some of the other versions of the Pulse Mech with a variety of different weapon options. While there are some cool sculpts here I actually really like the simple 'standing still and firing' pose on the far right of the last image.
I've finally got round to finishing off my Republic soldiers (it's only taken a year!) so hopefully I can pick some of these up and give them the same treatment. The models were great to paint with a wash allowing you to pick up so many different levels of detail.
Commandos Go!
As well as the Pulse Mechs above there are some more specialised soldiers for the Republic in the form of the Commandos. Check out these highly trained soldiers ready to do some fighting behind enemy lines...
These soldiers have different weapon options compared to the existing troopers and are posed to be more animated. It certainly makes sense since these troops would be running around controlling objectives while the other troops are laying down some covering fire.
The leader-type Commando with the Grenade is my favourite of the bunch and I'm so very glad that these models have tabs under their feet for making these a doddle to put together. I can't stand trying to stick running troops to their bases!
What do you think?

I think.. I’ve been wasting my time trying to cobble together some IG Veterans from a mix of GW, Anvil and Victoria Miniatures parts. I’m just going to do head swaps on the Commandos 😀
Looking cool, but cant help to wonder if the angle on those rifle mags arent a bit impractical .. from the look of the guns there are shell ejectors on there too, so no caseless ammo?
You’d still need to get your fingers in there to clear a stoppage, which would seem quite likely given the odd angle on that magazine. As stated elsewhere, it is a Kriss Vector style weapon, where there are counterweights and other gizzy-gazoo’s that stop a weapon from climbing up and right (due to recoil and barrel rifling). You’re right @hatamoto . Still looks odd, but it would be easy enough to cut those mags off, and shave them down to straighten them. That port would also allow for a quick release of gas. Looks like the action still works on… Read more »
They look much better than I expected; I know what you mean about the mags but it works in the Kriss ‘Vector’ (i believe it also reduces muzzle climb by a clever bolt arrangement).
excellent
Those look rather nice.
Thx for clearing that up, i knew i had seen a gun like that somewhere 🙂 if it works thats cool, sure looks just that.
Nice looking troops.
POWER EXTREME!
Between these and Haaslefree sci fi , my needs are sated…
love them.
I remember when Anvil first appeared on BoW I was quite unimpressed with their work but they have really taken thing sup a notch now bam!
I agree with you on the improved aesthetics as of recently compared to when we first seen them do bits.
