Fight Alongside Perry Miniatures’ New Xhosa Warriors

Heading off to the Cape Frontier Wars the Perry Miniatures twins have produced two new sets of Xhosa Warriors who were battling against European colonists who had come to take their land from them. You can get the models in two flavours with either Spears or Muskets.
After doing a little bit of research I stumbled on the fact that the Xhosa peoples name means 'fierce' or 'angry' and you could certainly see them being very capable fighters. The models you see above and below painted by Steve May also show the tribesmen daubed in red clay too as was one of their customs.
As you can also see here these models are shown wearing blankets over their arms. They were used to keep warm when it was cold but also as a shield in battle. It doesn't sound like much but you could probably shy away a blade or two and knock a man off his stride with one of those.
When guns were introduced to Africa the Xhosa picked them up immediately and were deadly with them when it came to employing them as part of ambushes.
What do you make of the Xhosa?
