Take the Fight to the Dystopian War Skies
May 17, 2012 by brennon
If you love the world of Dystopian Wars by Spartan Games but don't want to bother with all that ocean, then how about getting your hands on a new Aerial Battle Group so the fight can take place in the cloud level alone?
Covenant of Antarctica...
Empire of the Blazing Sun...
Federated States of America...
Kingdom of Britannia...
Prussian Empire...
Republique of France...
With the rules only recently receiving an update and a new expansion coming this could be the perfect time to pick one of these sets up. Not only are they good if you just want to start out, but they provide an easy way of adding to your existing armada.
You can buy them from the Spartan Games web store here.
Will you take to the skies in one of these mighty vessels?
Now this completes the line-up – you can now buy sets for land, sea and air. Judging by the differing numbers in each box they’ll be balanced against each other, plus they might be better starters than the others as these sets don’t need specific terrain to use as you just fly over it all.
My personal fave is the CoA set just because I like the sleeker look of their ships, but I bet the FSA set will sell better since it’s got giant flying Sky Captain-style robots in it… 🙂
Just a note, those are NOT starters. The news release has at the bottom the info that they’re essentially Spartan Webstore bundles. they do not come in any special sort of box, they’re just blisters of existing minis conveniently put together in one place in their shop.
That’s a shame…I hope they do proper aerial starters at some stage though, they’d be very useful.
Agreed. I like the aerial and ground units way better than the sea units.
Its great that battles of Dystopian Wars can be now fought also in air. All those have style of they factions showing nicely and making them unique compared to onces from other factions.
Finally, this is what I’ve been looking forward to. An all aerial force. Now I’ll be getting… all of them! 🙂
I already got the flyers separately for the KoB. With the launch of the landing craft in July I’ll be able to do the beachhead senario I’ve been contemplating.
Roll on Land Dreadnoughts…
What is aircombat like in DW?
I’ve always been in a bit of an odd mind set when it comes to DW, there is a lot of cool stuff, but when it comes to specific land, sea or air only battles your choices seem some what limited and you have to take lots of duplicate models.
Unless I’m just getting the average battle size wrong and you only need a dozen models for an okay game.
