Fight In The Deserts Of Dust With New Game Mat
September 5, 2016 by dracs
Dust Studios have released a new gaming mat to take the battle of Dust to the desert.
The desert makes an interesting change from the more usual battlefields of Europe we see. It would be cool to see how the mechs deal with the sand.
The mat itself is made from neoprene, reportedly making it hard wearing and water resistant. Of course, it wouldn't be limited to just Dust. I can imagine a good number of games being played out in this desert landscape.
Do you ever use gaming mats for your set ups?

$90 – wow 🙁

Its a premium mat with real sand on it
Neoprene game mat are always a little bit costly. This one looks good ! Do you know if there is a face with squares ?
As Hithero said, the grided mats are available in every starter set. 2 of them make a tournament legal table. 🙂
You get gridded in the starters or http://www.dustgame.com/products_d.php?sid=55&id=570
Just curious, but does the mat have anything that makes it specific to dust or the period (or scale)?
I know a few people who would love it for westerns or crusades, or similar things such as alternate settings for Frostgrave (Buried in sand rather than snow) or GorkaMorka
Nope, nothing – just an (expensive) mat.
Neoprene game mat that size are that price no matter who makes them. a 4×4 mat is $75 http://store.frontlinegaming.org/fat-mat%3A-alpine-4×4/dp/853
This mat is generic so that you can use it for your freeform DUST 1947 games but also for any other classic miniature game you play, from a grim darkness where there are only donuts to a medieval fantasy…
The mat is really thick, includes a transport bag with some velcro area to put your own patches on if you want and features a DUST1947 stamp logo on the top.
Nothing new…an expensive mat…it’ll be forget really soon.
