FFG’s Aggressive Release Schedule Hitting For Legend Of The Five Rings
October 12, 2017 by brennon
Legend Of The Five Rings from Fantasy Flight Games might only have just come out but you're going to have to contend with a whole lot more cards very soon as they announced their aggressive Six Week release window for the entire first cycle, the Imperial Cycle.
Based on a themed set of releases these new sets of cards take your clans on a visit to the Imperial Capital as they deal with the politics and more behind the scenes as well as facing off on the battlefield with new characters and more.
In addition to the cards that you'll get to bolster your faction, each faction will also find themselves in control new Seeker and Keeper cards which were chosen at the Kiku Matsuri at Gen Con this year. They bring in new and interesting gameplay effects for all of the clans.
You can see each of them HERE and let us know what you think of them. The real question for people is whether or not this aggressive release schedule is going to be deployed on their other games too?
Can you see yourself getting a bit overwhelmed by this pool of cards or do you view this as a great way to shore up the gaps in the Clans right now?
Let me know below...

While it is good that they are fleshing out the range so quickly, I am glad I am not on board for this one, rough on the wallet on the march to the dreaded c word season
Those are some sweet cards.
So it’s an LCG rather than a CCG (sorry – TCG is it now?) but they’re certainly going to blled their money’s worth out of the player base asap before the initial hype and hiatus dies down!!
*bleed
Right decision, not the right execution. Will be getting them as they come out regardless. In other FFG LCG news, it seems as if Erik Dahlman, lead designer of SWLCG and co-designer of L5R, has been relieved of his duties.
@redben – can you elaborate on that? What about the decision is right / why is it not being executed well?
I have no stake in this either way; I’m just interested in what an industry giant is doing and why.
I hope they (FFG) get this excited for Star Wars: Legion. That’s one I’m getting ready for.
I think this is good. With 7 clans you will have a hard time getting enough cards out for all of them in a 20×3 card pack. So fast for the first cycle is a sensible thing.
I would like them to abandon the packs in favor of the big expansions. Gives a much bigger card pool at once to experiment with…and 2 of them in a year would equal the 2 cycles…so enough time in between to play. And maybe a bit cheaper 🙂
