The Fearsome Picts Of Scotland Invade Footsore Miniatures
January 3, 2017 by dracs
Footsore Miniatures have announced that the warriors of the northern Picts are coming south this January.
The Picts lived in what would become Scotland and remained unconquered by the Roman Empire. Not much is known about their culture, but their name comes from the Latin picti, usually taken to mean painted or tattooed.
Although they were pretty much subsumed by Gael culture in the 11th century, the Picts retained an almost mythological status in our imaginings of the Dark Ages. This warband looks like it would be the perfect counter for the more disciplined forces of Romanised Britain.
Will you lead Footsore's Picts south of Hadrian's Wall?

Actually, the more likely opponents for those Pict Warbands (in the Dark Ages) would be the Irish (also available from Footsore…..again lovely sculpts). And the Northumbrians rather than the Romano Britian kingdoms (Northumbria was a bit “rough” for them down south). For the Northumbrian figs, probably Anglo Saxon figs, with more unarmed irregulars (again available from Footsore). I’m mainly talking around 700ADish, I’m remembering without the aid of a wiki….so my info is decidedly dodgy 😀
I like these fellows a lot. I can see some of them becoming a warband for Blood Eagle I think. Superb stuff Footsore!
I just know they were a thorn in Conan’s side … which he plucked out with utmost ferocity of course ;D
Looking forward to see what some good painters can do with Tattoo work on these.
