Modiphius have a neat wargame worth checking out on their webstore which feels like it might have flown under the radar. Mythic Commander is a set of Fantasy rules for two players to dive into which uses tokens but is totally suitable for miniatures as well.
Mythic Commander // Modiphius Entertainment
Mythic Commander has been designed as a fast-paced wargame that can be used to represent all manner of different Fantasy armies made up of infantry, monsters, mages, siege weapons and heroic characters. A set of Command cards and Spell Cards are used to marshal your army and dictate the flow of battle whilst unleashing powerful abilities.

There are seven different factions for you to choose from across six civilisations. All of them feature different upgrades and abilities that make them unique. As you'll have seen above, the game makes use of tokens to get you started alongside a double-sided battlefield map (all you'd need are dice!) but you can use miniatures. You'd just need to look at the dimensions of the tokens that Mythic Commander uses and tweak your collection to suit.

This seems like a great way to potentially play some wargames on the move. You might not fit this on a table on a train but you could use this to play games when you're off on your holidays and don't want to drag a big box of miniatures with you. All in all, a great idea and having more options is never bad!

This could be interesting. If the rules are good enough, might invest in some miniatures to replace the counters.
This seems right up my alley. It is also not very expensive at all, so I think I might get it.
This has been on my radar for a couple of weeks now. Just waiting for some user opinions on it before I commit.
It’s a good idea to offer a wargame with tokens, though I’d personally only be interested if I could replace them with miniatures… So would like a bit more info on how the game plays and what makes it different to others.
I Recently bought the rules and intend to play on my wargames table (7ft by 6ft), using 6″ squares. My Warhammer models have sat idle too long so I have rebased them on bases approx 5″ by 3″ – should work perfectly on a 6″ square pattern and they look pretty impressive. Yet to play but the rules do allow a high degree of customisation – my undead army has Undying trait (never rolls for moral, simply starts to disintegrate on moral fail) and my Mage draws from the Death spell deck. I have further customised the army – for… Read more »
