Modiphius' Fallout: Factions 32mm Post-Apocalyptic skirmish game is now available for you to scoop up on general release. You can get your hands on the Battle For Nuka-World Starter Set alongside faction packs and more.
Battle For Nuka-World - Starter Set // Fallout: Factions
Fallout: Factions is a brand-new skirmish game designed by James M. Hewitt who has worked on Games Workshop and Warhammer products as well as the awesome Hellboy board game by Mantic Games. In this game, you lead your gang of Raiders through Nuka-World looking to claim territory and butcher the competition. Your gangs will also grow and evolve as part of a campaign and the Battle For Nuka-World Starter Set gives you everything you need to start playing.

The set comes with two gangs for you to play as. Both The Pack and The Operators can be built in a variety of ways and come in plastic so it's nice and easy to work with. You will also get the punch-out terrain that can be sat on top of the battle map so you won't be scrabbling around for books and tin cans to use as terrain.
The set also comes with the rulebook, tokens, dice and a tape measure so you're fully sorted for your initial clashes in Fallout: Factions.
If these initial factions aren't for you or you'd just like to go deeper into Fallout: Factions, you can also pick up The Disciples as a raider faction.

The Pack and Operators are also available as separate plastic sets so you can use these to bolster your existing gang or perhaps start a new one if you split the starter set with a friend.

Dice Packs are also available for the various factions and there is even an introductory Welcome To Nuka-World free Quickstart if you'd like to try before you buy. Folks have had a lot of fun diving into Fallout: Factions from what I've seen online. The gang-based skirmishes feel like they slot in nicely within Modiphius' Fallout range and there's a nice point of difference here when compared to the storytelling and narrative flow of Wasteland Warfare.
Could you be tempted to get stuck into Fallout: Factions?

I bought the other starter set – and returned it. The minis were crappy soft plastic, about as nice as old toy soldiers.
The add-on boxes, on the other hand, were excellent quality hard resin.
If the same crappy plastic is in this box, then no: this will also be a pass.
These are multipart plastic kits so different material I believe
To quote the page from Modiphius:
The Fallout: Factions – Nuka World Starter Set contains:
1x 80-page rulebook
1x sprue of 10 hard plastic multi-part The Pack miniatures (+ bases)
1x sprue of 10 hard plastic multi-part The Operators Miniatures (+ bases)
3x sheets of punch-out terrain
1x battle map and poster
86 tokens
12 dice
1 tape measure
Hard plastic sprues. Not one piece soft plastic like Fallout Wasteland Warfare had.
The Modiphius multi-part plastics are better than the PVC stuff from the FWW original core box. But the Modiphius resins are a nice step up from the multi-part plastics. I remember when Elder Scrolls Call To Arms was released the multi-part plastics were a bad joke. One simple figure being broken up into as many as 16 different parts. Then the resins came along and made assembly loads easier, as well as being higher quality detail. I’m a little surprised this Nuka World starter box went with the bitty multi-part plastics, as it’s not particularly noob-friendly. Lotsa small bits, skinny… Read more »
Well the price isn’t beginner friendly either 😉
The “other” starter set was a nice affordable way to get into the game. Once painted, they look almost as good as the resin (not sure I would use the term ‘hard’ because hard they are not…fragile, very prone to breakage they are…but also very nice detail and a delight to paint).
Ah, sprues of hard plastic. Cool.
$99 Canadian for the starter, that’s not too bad.
I’m on a no-spend lockdown for about 8 weeks, going on holiday ??
