Empress Show Some True Grit With New 28mm Wild West Miniatures
April 14, 2023 by brennon
Empress Miniatures have recently added a bunch of new 28mm characters to their Wild Bunch line-up, a great option for those seeking to dive into some Wild West action on the tabletop. All of these new characters have some True Grit to them as they take to the frontier.
Rooster Cogburn // Empress Miniatures
The first miniature for the new collection is Rooster Cogburn, the aged gunslinger who has a reputation of bringing back his bounties dead rather than alive. He has a fair array of weapons to choose from including a Peacemaker, Colt Dragoons and more. As you can see, the set comes with both a mounted and dismounted version of the character which is the same for all of the characters you're going to see here.
Cogburn has been shaken out of his drunken stupor by Mattie Ross who is out for revenge. She has hired Cogburn to help go after those who murdered her father and isn't afraid to use her gun should someone get in her way.
Mattie Ross // Empress Miniatures
Working with Ross and Cogburn is also the charming La Boeuf who isn't afraid of showing off his skills in a gunfight.
La Boeuf // Empress Miniatures
La Boeuf comes armed with his flashy ivory-gripped Colt Peacemaker as well as a Sharps 1974 Cavalry Carbine for good measure. He is similarly good in a firefight and will be an erstwhile ally whilst you're trying to hunt down those damn outlaws out on the frontier.
Gosh Darn Outlaws...
As well as those on the good side of the coin, there are also some who are certainly on the bad side. The one that Ross is hunting down is Tom Chaney and who she has tasked Cogburn with chasing down.
Tom Chaney // Empress Miniatures
This fellow is looking a little bedraggled and rightly so. He needs to be hounded and hunted down for his crimes and brought to justice, one way or another. He ain't too bright but that doesn't mean that he isn't someone that you can take lightly. Any man with a gun can be deadly. He makes a good target to be chasing down during your Wild West games.
Ned Pepper // Empress Miniatures
There is also Ned Pepper who is a gang leader who has been keeping an eye on Chaney. He is a proper bad guy with little to no redeeming qualities. He might be quite a thorn in your side though during your games as you seek to chase down Chaney with Cogburn and company.
What's neat is that this set of miniatures essentially sets up a full campaign for you to play through with your Wild West games. Make sure to watch True Grit back and see if you can break it down into scenarios for use with Dead Man's Hand and more.
Will you be picking up these Wild West heroes and villains?
