Meet Empress Miniatures’ New 28mm Birmingham Gangsters
June 22, 2022 by brennon
Paul Hicks is sculpting up something new for the folks at Empress Miniatures. These new Midlands Gangsters are going to become part of the 28mm Very British Civil War range.
British Gangsters // Empress Miniatures
Armed with enough weapons to take down a fair few rival gangs, these miniatures might be similar to a few peaky fellows that love going around blinding folks. The images here have been "enhanced" a little because they were so small but you can see the detail on the sculpts, bringing these characters to life.
It looks like we're going to be getting two sets. One of them will feature your classic Gangsters of the 1920s and 30s whilst the second offers up more unique characters.

Rules-wise, Empress seem to suggest using A World Aflame, one of the blue books from the folks at Osprey Games. I'm sure there are an abundance of other rules out there that could be used for these characters including diving into the 7TV world with Crooked Dice or Pulp Alley perhaps?
Either way, it's going to be fun seeing these miniatures make it onto the tabletop!

My favourite part of Cheeky Blunders was hearing actual Brummies down the pub hooting with laughter at the accents in the show.
Empress minis are invariably wonderful minis and these are right up my street. I’m delighted they’re adding to their inter war collection and definitely I’ll be picking these up.
Blinder ?
Ooh Playing a blinder with these figures.
Gotta say, I am surprised that Great Escape didn’t go down this route. Their “Chicago Way” game (basically Dead Man’s Hand set in the 1920’s) sort of hit a wall and given the success of Peaky Blinders, I don’t know why they didn’t capitalise on that by making a set of English gangs. These would suit that role perfectly
They might do after this haha
Sounds like something you could do. Or me. I’ve a “no new projects” rule but I’ve a ton of inter war figures I could rope in.
Literally just a proxy job I think.
I’m no expert in the Chicago Way but I reckon so. The Garrison Way here we come!
Those are rather nice.
Just finished the show, and these minis look great!
These would be amazingly good for Very British Civil War as a outlaw gang is even a Right/Left Wing specialist hit squad
