Embrace Your Inner John Wick With Black Site’s Breacher
January 12, 2024 by brennon
Black Site Studios are on a roll when it comes to the games they've been working on. We've seen them fight on the Moon in Lunar, and dive into demon battling in Hametsu and now they're looking to launch a campaign for their John Wick-style miniatures game, Breacher.
Breacher // Black Site Studios
In Breacher, you dive into the one-versus-many fights that you would have seen in famous action movies like John Wick, anything by John Woo and everything else in between. If you're looking to get those "one-man army" vibes with your wargames then this is it. One player will take on the role of a Breacher who will use their set of skills to take down the OPFOR that stand between them and their prize.
It's not all plain sailing though. Gameplay makes use of d20 mechanics based on your skills and abilities as well as a deck of activation cards where the enemy has as many cards as you do! The player with initiative will be able to peek at what cards are coming next, allowing them to plan. Additionally, as OPFOR enemies are taken out, their cards are removed from the deck and the Breacher will need to focus on completing their objectives before the clock runs out.

As they are going to be outnumbered, the Breacher will have to make some hard choices during the game. They could run out of ammo and have to work out if they're going to take the time to reload or rush in and start using their "gun-fu" to take out their enemies in close combat using their sidearms. You'll also have to move from cover to cover and make sure you don't waste your shots!
Players will also be able to make their own Breacher with their specific set of skills that match their style of play. Want to go in all guns blazing? Go for it. Want to take a more measured approach? That option is there too.

The player taking on the role of the enemy, the OPFOR, will then get to calculate the Breacher's expertise to judge what kind of lackeys and goons they need to throw into the mix to try and take you down. If you're playing as part of a campaign, the person taking on the role of the OPFOR for a game can then include their Breacher as a Consultant so their skills can be put to good use as they try and take you down and make a name for yourself. This all sounds like the perfect recipe for a bit of Hollywood action on the tabletop.
With some interesting-sounding mechanics, some fun miniatures and the chance to dive into nemesis-crafting campaign play, Breacher seems like another game from Black Site to keep an eye on. Watch out for their campaign for the game starting up soon.

This looks like LOTS of fun. I hope the system will play as fast and fun.
