Games Workshop has revealed another new miniature for the upcoming Arnor supplement for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. We've seen the mighty champions of Arnor and now we've got a miniature for the last king of Gondor, Eärnur.

When the Witch-king of Angmar began his campaign against the people of Arnor, King Eärnil II could not spare many of his soldiers to help but eventually, Eärnur (a prince at the time) went North to help fight the forces of Angmar.

Eärnur would find himself embroiled in the battle against the forces of Angmar at Fornost. The Witch-King charged the forces of Good and challenged Eärnur. Eärnur's horse bolted and the Witch-king laughed in the face of Eärnur who, in his impetuousness, wanted to pursue him and challenge him. He was eventually talked down by Glorfindel who had managed to rout the forces of Angmar alongside the Elves of Rivendell.

This comes through in the profile for Eärnur with a decent Fight value of six, three attacks, and three Might points. He also has the rule, A Fool's Challenge, where he cannot decline Heroic Challenges and must charge an enemy hero should he have the chance to do so. To help him, Eärnur also comes with Master Duellist allowing him to match the Fight value of a non-monster model he is engaged with. It puts him on even footing even if he is reckless.

I feel this is a great way to mirror the background of the character whilst also making him an intriguing pick for an army. As well as using Eärnur to represent the Prince going North to fight at Fornost, you could also use him to tell the story of his final journey where he rode through the gates of Minas Morgul and was never seen again.

I think the miniature looks great and seems like it's going to be another fine addition to the Forge World resin range for collectors. Maybe we'll see some other Gondorian forces from the period getting updated for the new supplement too.

What do you make of Eärnur, The Last King Of Gondor?
