Dystopian Wars 2.0 On The Way From Spartan Games!

Dystopian Wars 2.0 is on the way from Spartan Games with an awesome looking New Rulebook and a big Two Player Battle Box coming towards the end of May. See what you think of this haul...
First up we have a look at this nice Commodore Edition of the rulebook which has tweaked the game mechanics and puffed up the background of the world between it's rather glossy looking covers.
With new rules comes a new way of getting into the game and the big Two Player Operation: Shadow Hunter does just that. You'll have dice, scenarios, models and coolest of all, some rather epic scenery cut-outs which mean you can populate a board really quickly and get fighting!
It all sounds very good indeed for budding Admirals!
My FSA navy just got an upgrade
Best thing is the movement trays for the flyer models love those so much
Well spotted I hadn’t seen those. Very nice touch indeed, and they make sense now that flyers need to be in B2B.
Looks interesting – but looking on their site it would be nice to see the distinction between the box set rule book and the hardback
My quick look after using links above.. boxset rulebook @128 pages, hardback@320? pages. So I would book in box is the “lite” bare bones basics, that is without anything in my grubby mitts…..
That was my thinking – which does to my mind effect the value of the product.
I wouldn’t mind seeing some “this is how you play this” videos from some of the Spartan stuff. I know we had a Dystopian Wars week a while back (am I right in understanding that ruleset applies to the ground and air units as well?), but is there anything on Firestorm Armada or Dystopian legions or Uncharted Seas (wasn’t there going to be some other stuff being released in the Firestorm universe?)
I think @warzan and @brennon did a 2 part tutorial video on how to play Dystopian Wars for BoW. I found it YouTube a while back.
I think the reason you haven’t seen much of these games covered is because the first edition rules for both were pretty seriously flawed (especially Firestorm). Firestorm 1.0 was really quite boring to watch. The first edition of DW was better than the older Firestorm, but it still had room for improvement. The second edition Firestorm Armada is a huge improvement over the first edition, though. That bodes very well for the second edition of DW. I think the primary reason either game was successful up to this point is the awesome models. Now that the game systems are getting… Read more »
Very nice. I had great fun painting my Empire of the Blazing Sun fleet, but they have been ‘on ice’ ever since. This box set might be good opportunity to expand the fleet and get back into the game.
A two player box set is what this game needs.
This looks fantastic, definitely another top title and starter set on my wish list.
This looks fantastic and a great excuse to start a new faction. Spartan really puts a lot of thought into coming up with concepts that add something more to the game (eg. ‘Stealth’ ships in this one complete with clear ‘see through’ resin model)!
Hope this gets some coverage in a month or two when its released.
Ill be ordering one at salute… they are giving away a Super heavy Polish bomber if you do… sexy stuff
I realy like DS, and at our gaming club it getter more populiar every week, we have like 8 from 20 that play and 4 more to come, so can not wait for 2.0, and hope to see some great BOW video about it.
