Dwarven Commanders & Dying Vendels From Medbury Miniatures
September 11, 2023 by brennon
Medbury Miniatures have another great Patreon haul of both Historical and Fantasy miniatures for the month of September. Their 28mm miniatures for this month focus on Dwarven kingdoms and more of their Vendels.
Dwarven Commanders & Markhor Riders // Medbury Miniatures
The first of the miniatures we're going to be looking at are for the Fantasy side of things. Here we have a great set of miniatures to represent your Dwarven Commanders alongside a band of Markhor Riders.
Gur-Adur Commanders // Medbury Miniatures
The Commanders are armed and armoured with around nine characters in total. You have a great Dwarf with a raven there, perfect for those looking to reclaim The Lonely Mountain whilst you also have a Banner Bearer and Hornblower for good measure. Some great rangers that you could use to scout ahead of the larger force.
Markhor Riders // Medbury Miniatures
There is also another set of Commanders including the Cloaked Captains and more. Great for leading a more heavily armoured warband. Finally, we have the Markhor Riders (above) which have been inspired by the heavy Byzantine cavalry, the Cataphracts. A solid set of releases for those looking to thunder forth across the tabletop and send Orcs (and maybe some Elves) flying.
These are great for those seeking to bring a new warband to life for Middle-earth. They work nicely with the existing range of course but would also gel with official miniatures for The Hobbit era and beyond too.
More Vendel Miniatures
As well as the Dwarves, we also have a new set of Vendel miniatures for those seeking to build a force battling throughout Scandinavia. Spearmen are at the ready alongside a bunch of unfortunate fellows who have been taken down by the enemy.
Vendel Warriors With Spears & Casualties // Medbury Miniatures
This set comes with a variety of both Armoured and Unarmoured Spearmen. They come with their hands empty so you can run with printing resin ones if you like or you could replace them with brass or steel if you prefer.
You'll also note that you also have some great Vendel Casualties. These folks have either been struck by arrows or cut down in the midst of the swirling melee. If you're playing a game that needs casualties markers (or fatigue in SAGA...for example) then you could get these painted up and add them to your set of wargaming accessories.
Will you be snapping these new release up?
