The latest set for Magic the Gathering, the Dragons of Tarkir, will be going to pre-release this coming weekend (March 21st - 22nd). All the cards have now appeared in Wizards of the Coasts' card gallery, including the mighty dragons which characterise the entire block.

A Dragonlord has risen to lead each of the different clans, each with its own distinct character and play style. First ,we have Dromoka, whose power paralyses the opponent utterly during your turn.

Dragonlord Dromoka

Then there is the sinister Kolaghan, who causes players to fear their own graveyard and limits their options to almost none.

Dragonlord Kolaghan

The magnificent Ojutai opens up new tactical options each turn it deals combat damage as it lets you cycle through your library for the cards you need.

Dragonlord Ojutai

Finally we have the greedy Silumgar, who steals the enemy's Planeswalkers out from under their very nose!

Dragonlord Silumgar

Of course, the story of Magic the Gathering all revolves around the Planeswalkers and no set would be complete without some of these multi-dimensional sorcerers, such Narset Transcendent.

Narset Transcendent

Narest is undoubtedly very useful, especially against mana combinations which rely heavily upon their sorceries and instants. However, in a set so devoted to dragons one Planeswalker stands supreme.

Sarkhan Unbroken

Sarkhan has always been a powerful Planeswalker, but this new version of him takes the cake, as well as all the dragons! There are ways to counter this of course, a number of the cards in the new set have protection from dragons, but should you let Sarkhan build up his power to such a degree you will find yourself swamped by some of the most powerful creatures in the game!

Are you planning to attend a Magic pre-release event? What cards in the new set are you excited for?

"Sarkhan has always been a powerful Planeswalker, but this new version of him takes the cake, as well as all the dragons!"
