Draft In The Black Powder Hanoverians To Take On Napoleon
May 12, 2014 by brennon
Warlord Games have another detachment of troops marching to the aid of the Duke of Wellington as the Hanoverian Infantry shoulder their rifles and help the British in Black Powder...
The set contains thirty of their plastic infantry as well as six metal command figures to lead them into battle. They fought in pretty much the same way as the British line troops but wore those rather distinctive caps setting them apart from the other red and white uniforms on the battlefield.
This is quite a nifty looking box and once again pushes me towards doing something Napoleonic. It seems like a very interesting world to tabletop game in and doing a whole army of red and white would be very cool.
Will you be grabbing these?

These figures indeed look pretty awesome. I especially like the banners, complete with halyard rope cords. I would never “warn someone off” starting Napoleonic, @brennon , but it is a major decision in one’s life … like collecting Led Zeppelin albums or starting a Dr. Who marathon. There’s just so much there. If go in for just a taste, it’s easy to get lost, If you go in for the whole thing you’ll wake up one day and say … wow, what happened to the last 15 years of my life? 🙂 I’ve heard people say the same thing about… Read more »
True Oriskany
Where do you start Revolutionary ,Peninsular etc..Too many nations, changes of equipment and dress and formations throughout the period
It can be a minefield
At least with the Revolution, though, the battles tend to be a little smaller. The biggest to my knowledge was Monmouth, New Jersey in ’78? 10K Patriots and 13K Crown, something like that? The Battle of Oriskany (ahem :)) was 1300 . . . total? But you’re right, the complexity is daunting simply for the variety of nations and units. When you say “Peninsular,” I have two possibilities. Do you mean American Civil War “Peninsula” campaign, Virginia, 1862? Or Spain/Portugal in Napoleonic (I don’t even know the years, lasted quite a while, didn’t it? How many episodes of Sharpe’s Rifles… Read more »
