Download the Rules for Firestorm Armada
December 10, 2014 by dracs
Spartan Games have made the rules for Firestorm Armada 2.0 free to download, letting you easily get into their game of galactic naval combat.
Firestorm Armada is a rapidly growing game, with a range of beautiful and varied space ships for players to build their own fleets with.
By making these rules available for free as a downloadable PDF, prospective players now have the try the game out for themselves before they decide which faction to choose. While I personally enjoy paper copies of rule books, this digital edition is great for both prospective and long-time players who prefer not having to carry a book around all the time.
Do you play Firestorm Armada? Do you prefer paper or digital rules?

The download link in the article points to your local drive 😉
copy paste FTW!
The rules are at http://www.spartangames.co.uk/resources/downloads. Scroll down and click “Firestorm Armada” to reveal the goodies. The PDF rules already have all the errata merged into them.
I play both Firestorms Armada and Planetfall, as well as running a Firestorm fansite. They’re excellent games, and Spartan is one of the good guys in the industry. Hopefully the digital rules (which is the full rulebook, not a cut-down version) will persuade some to hop aboard a ship and head into the Storm Zone. 🙂
the errata merge is the BEST argument for pdf rules and far outweighs any financial arguments imho.
For general information: Spartan Games will be releasing rules for all their systems as free PDFs in the upcoming days. You can go to the each section in the download page and see the date of the release for each system.
Guess Infinity has taught the competition a lesson here 🙂
Spartan games have for the most part always had stats, rules and such for free as a PDF for download. I would be more inclined to say they are continuing this practise rather than say they are learning from Infinitys example. But I could be wrong…
Lots of companies over the years have given away their rules for free, not exactly new but always welcome
True that. If your business is selling minis then giving the rules away has always made sense and many companies have done it.
Have they really? Until Infinity started doing it wholesale, it was actually pretty damn rare from what I recall. GZG did it, but their rules were out of print since early 2000’s, so that makes sense. Even today the overwhelming majority of games on the market do not have free rulebooks, and only sometimes have some sort of demo/sneak peek file. Any company that does give the rules out should be at least aknowledged for it I think
Just google (or whichever internet search engine of choice).
Free Wargame with refined including some or all of: Tabletop/Miniature/Period/Scale interested in.
Also when having been to conventions not unknown for a miniature maker to sell rules cheap.
Theres even sites which collect the links, not sure if allowed to mention here so I’ll leave it at – try the search.
Whilst there can be some gems generally you get what you pay for.
This is probably the best one

Rackham did free printed rulebooks for Confrontation going back to the late 90s. Anyone who played Confrontation accumulated a ton of the buggers.
I just dont think a lot of companies advertise the fact.
Free rules are always welcome. PDF’s are easy enough to print off, too. If I like the rules, chances are I’ll buy the mini’s. Best way to generate good will.
I’ve been playing FSA for about a year now. Its an absolute blast and one of the better wargames i’ve played in a loooong time. Spartan Games as a whole is a very good company, always listening to its costumers while also providing incredible minis… seriously the Dindrenzi Nausica-Class Battleship is a work of art! Its pretty cheap to get into as well, with Patrol Fleets (individual race’s starter sets) at about $60.
