The Doctor Is In With A New TV Trailer
July 14, 2014 by dracs
Doctor Who will be returning this August, along with the new Doctor Peter Capaldi who has just shown up in his first full TV trailer.
The trailer features the new Doctor dramatically stating his intention to go back and start correcting his mistakes, along with his companion Clara, while the TARDIS control room is shown wracked by explosions and fire, which could mean a new TARDIS design is on the way too.
The trailer gives the impression that this is a darker series, with a more serious Doctor, aiming to bring more drama than the antics of the previous iteration and is that a T-Rex in London?
OK, I take that all back, this is going to be fun!
We also see the return of some familiar faces, such as Madame Vastra and even a roboticised Walter Simeon, a.k.a the Great Intelligence.
I cannot tell you how excited I am for this new series. I am relatively new to Doctor Who, but am now an avid Whovian. Peter Capaldi marks one of the few times a Doctor has been replaced by an older actor, and I am curious to see how he will portray the iconic character.
What are you expecting from this new series? Has the trailer made you excited for what is to come?
I am looking forward to this so much – the entire Dr Who reboot was one of the best things the BBC ever produced.
The only thing is, I have to repress my expectations of a Malcolm Tuckeresque outburst 🙂
Seeing this man as the Doctor may get me into wanting to watch this show. My view is the younger the Doctor or rather the actor became the less interesting and captivating the show was. Lets face it older actors where trained better back then as well as they have experience to do better acting than the young batch we have today.
I’m really looking forward to this as someone who has watched bits and pieces of the rebooted franchise over the years but never fully bought into it for some bizarre reason like some others it seems. Capaldi is such a great actor that I’m really interested to see his take on the character like you Sam. I really think I could use this as a good jumping-on point to give it a good go this time.
Cannot Wait!!!!
I’d love to see a Dr Who skirmish game – I know there is one out there – well the rules are but the availability of the minis are hard and limited in choice
looks promising
That was rather epic.
Top of the viewing list in our house.
Now THIS is a Doctor. I just couldn’t get on board with a Doctor Who that looked more like 1st year Medical Student Who. Can’t wait for the new Season. Also thrilled to hear the distinct voice of my FAVORITE all time bad guys, the Daleks, opening the trailer.
Anyone play the Doctor Who board game “Battle to Save the Universe?” Looks neat but not sure if it’s any good.
Quick bit go Googling reveals that the ages of the actors when they made their debuts as the Doctor goes; 55, 46, 50, 40, 29, 40, 44, 36, 41, 34, 27 plus 74 if you include John Hurt. Being replaced by an older actor as the Doctoris not as rare as I thought.
Just starting with watching classic Dr Who, but i think i can catch up with those 26/27 with that Dr Who weekend on CBS Horror.
