Dig Up A New Game For The Family With Body Snatchers
April 17, 2023 by avernos
If you've ever wanted to teach your kids about the positives of necromancy then the creepy-cute card game Body Snatchers from Fights and Fancy may be the ideal game for you.
Body Snatchers // Fights and Fancy
Body Snatchers is a card game for two to five players where you play an animated skellybob attempting to find enough pieces of other bodies and a handful of gold to get the dodgy necromancer at the outskirts of town to resurrect you.
As you play you'll build the town you'll play around, lay traps for the other players, and also try to avoid running afoul of Burke and Hare the resurrectionists of an entirely different kind!
Body Snatchers // The Prototype Project
Bexx started working on the prototype during the lockdown and you can read about her fever dream made real in the project link above. I love seeing a community member take the big step to push forward and find a publisher to get the game out there, seeing the initial prototype she worked out at home using Canva, a free graphic design tool, through to the completed version gives a real sense of achievement.
I love the creepy-cute look of the game, it puts me in mind of the comics of Roman Dirge or Art Baltazar, the idea of skeletons attempting to resurrect themselves is the very definition of whimsical yet macabre. The gameplay sounds like it offers a lot of fun and replayability, with the constantly shifting town and the constant creeping threat of the alive people coming to steal your body parts it doesn't sound like that necromancer is going to run out of business anytime soon.
Will you be snatching some bodies?
