Games Workshop has been talking a little more about Ash Wastes, the new expansion for Necromunda which is going to take things beyond the confines of Hive Primus and out into the irradiated wastes, haunted by deadly gangs and xenos creatures.

This expansion is going to be part of a brand new boxed set, as you might have guessed, but it will also feature a series of new books that are intended to explore the different factions vying for control of the wastes. I would assume we'll be seeing the Ash Wastes Gangers themselves but also all manner of mutants that have tried to make the wastes their home.

Andy Hoare mentioned that the factions you'll be meeting will be familiar to longtime inhabitants of the underhive. So, that should certainly get some cogs turning.

It has also been noted that we're going to be getting some updates to the way games play. Things need to be tweaked for this expansion considering the open plains that sit before your gangers. Big vehicles and new terrain is going to be in the mix including the one shown in the trailer. You'll be able to dive into big convoy ambushes across the irradiated dunes - very cool indeed.

After some awkward years, in the beginning, Necromunda feels like it's in a good place. You only really need the Core Rulebook and your House book of choice in order to play and then you can dive in with just a plastic box and some friends. It's certainly better than the book bonanza it once was.

Hopefully, Ash Wastes will keep things tight rather than just ballooning out again!
