Defend The Space Station In Hawk Wargames’ Dropfleet Commander
November 12, 2015 by brennon
Hawk Wargames have shown off some more concept work for another of the upcoming model kits for Dropfleet Commander, the Space Station AND a big Kickstarter Exclusive in the 2-Up UCM Beijing Class Battleship...
Station On High Alert
This latest kit will allow you to create four large Space Stations and three smaller Space Stations in a variety of different combinations. You could even try and make it into one massive space dock...
The rules for the Space Station will be available within the main rulebook when it comes out. As they point out in the update on this set you could even make these a larger cluster of space stations that you need to take with boarding actions.
2-Up Battleships
Following up on that we have the Collectors Edition 2-Up UCM Beijing Class Battleship which is available as a Bolt On for those of you who are getting involved with the campaign.
"This 2 Up model (measuring approximately 284mm in length) will include with it a custom designed display stand. This collectors edition model will be supplied unassembled and unpainted, and (like the Dropzone Commander 28mm Collectors Edition Ares) some key parts are posable, such as the Mass Driver Turrets."
This will not be available at any point after the campaign and so makes this a rather bespoke piece for those who really want to immerse themselves in the world of Dropfleet. I could see this being a rather special addition to your gaming room.
Have you backed the campaign?

Sigh… how can I not get in on this? If only this had happened AFTER Christmas.
I don’t like the way the KS is done. you cant chose the factions you want in the 2 player starter set. The stretch goal rewards gives you 4 cruiser, 1 for each faction, high rank get 4 frigate sprue, one per faction. So lets say your high rank (captain) and want both faction your forced to take, your gonna get stuck with a bunch of frigates and cruiser from faction you cant even use. Its like they wanna force you get stuff from all factions, while 2 of them look like crap. Id be seriously interested if i could… Read more »
@offline: How dare they pick 2 factions and put them in a box manufactured and packaged with rules, dice, tape-measure tokens etc for less (£60) than two equivalent starter forces (£35 each) aimed at being their retail release and offer it as the base of a KS for less than retail? The cheek of it!
There’s nothing stopping you selecting whichever factions you like by going for the Lieutenant level and adding in whatever else you like.
@offline – it makes total sense for Hawk to produce a starter set with just 2 fleets, and to now be willing to swap them around.
There are pledge options for those who only want one fleet, and there’s the Commodore pledge which allows you to take 2 starters of your choice in addition to the starter set.
The Admiral pledge, sadly sold out, is meant for people who want everything.
I really don’t get what you’re worried about.
I am loving the idea of using spare parts from my PHR fleet sprues along with the space station sprues to make a giant orbital base for my faction with docking ports for all the ships ect.
You can please all of the people some of the time, or some of the people all of the time, but never all of the people all of the time (to paraphrase Abraham Lincoln). I think Hawk have done very well so far for such a small company overwhelmed at the response they have received. The plastic launch assets for example – they were planned for 2017. My only minor grouse is that they need to keep the momentum going so for example there needs to be something by way of stretch goals in the void between £350k and £500k,… Read more »
