The Deadpool Movie Finally Makes an Appearance… Sort Of

Cast your mind back to 2011. X-Men: First Class had just gotten us over the disappointing X-Men: Origins Wolverine and The Avengers was still a year away. While this was going on, some test footage was shot for the much-anticipated Deadpool movie. Now, three years later, this footage has finally hit the web.

Deadpool

For those of you who don't know, Deadpool is a Marvel Comics super hero known for his constant wise cracks, breaking the fourth wall and general insanity. First created by comic creator Rob Liefeld, the Merc with the Mouth has become a firm favourite among fans.

The footage shows a CGI sequence in which Deadpool drops in on a group of unsuspecting villains (I assume they're villains, knowing Deadpool they could be someone who spoke too loudly in the cinema one day), all while giving his trademark quips and addressing the audience. In other words, it's a Deadpool movie where he actually acts like Deadpool, unlike his previous movie incarnation.

X-Men Origins Wolverine

According to comicbookmovie.com, Ryan Reynolds reprised the role of Deadpool for this footage, providing the voice and motion capture, and I have to say I think he actually does the wacky character justice.

However, I have to say that I doubt we'll be seeing this film any time soon. It is planned for the Deadpool movie to be R-rated (18 certificate for us back in the UK), which makes sense given his nigh-immortal healing factor means he tends to get decapitated and eviscerated on a daily basis, but 20th Century Fox is more focused on creating PG-13 super hero films at present. Still, at least we have this test footage to enjoy.

What super hero do you most want to see in cinema?
