The Dark Eye RPG Now On Kickstarter
May 6, 2016 by stvitusdancern
The Dark Eye RPG by Ulisses Spiele is now on Kickstarter to make it available in English. This German in origin RPG is now making its way to those of us who did not pay attention in German class in high school and need it in English.
According to the Kickstarter page this is the most popular European RPG and has been around for over thirty years.
Reading through the description and looking over the artwork it looks to be very well put together and any veteran of a fantasy RPG will be able to pick this up and get stuck in to an adventure right away. All the typical races are represented here so no one will be left out.
Being a fan of RPGs and especially fantasy ones (Original D&D player and 5th Edition Playtester), I will surely be jumping in on this one. If you back the Kickstarter you can up your pledge to get the books in special leather bound covers, I love well made books.
They just started and already have met their funding goal. It will be very interesting to see what unlocked goodies await us! You can download a quickstart rules and scenario here.
Do you have room for another RPG?

DSA 2. ed was my first rpg back in the day. Nice system and a very detailed world. If D&D is high Fantasy i’d call DSA fairytail Fantasy
I prefer DSA 4ed.
Don’t remember wich edition i’ve studied back in the days…
i remember it being a bit overedundant
As a german gamer, my first encounter with TDE (DSA in german) was the awesome 2nd edition back in the days. Fairytail Fantasy is the right kind of definition for TDE…
It is definitiv a great alternativ for D&D Fans, the german fandome for TDE is massiv and there is also a big LARP community for it. Give the quickstart rules a go and have fun…
I remember seeing it in the Netherlands at around the same time as the Dutch version of the D&D red box set (must have been mid 80’s IIRC). And it was sold in a normal book shop as opposed to a specialist store (which were and still are rare). I doubt it sold many copies, because it wasn’t exactly promoted, which is a shame because even back then TSR could have used a bit of competition. It read like a simplistic version of D&D with names that were a bit too literal for my liking (‘adventure land’ as a name… Read more »
