June 28, 2023 by brennon
The Barons' War: Conquest from Warhost is a supplement that allows you to bring your Dark Age warbands to the tabletop for some fun Historical skirmishes in 28mm. Footsore Miniatures already have a great range of Dark Age miniatures to choose from for this but if you want an easy entry point, you can now pick up some bundles for the Normans, Vikings and Late Saxons.
Viking 500 Point Warband // The Barons' War: Conquest
These warbands have been designed as a balanced option for those wanting to dive into Conquest as one of these factions. They work as a solid starter option for anyone wanting to give these games a go and you also get The Barons' War Rulebook and Conquest PDF at the same time.
The Viking Warband comes with a Jarl, Bannerman and Seidhr plus some Armoured Hirdmen which make up your command group. There is also a Hesir, six Bowmen, eight Bondi, three Berserkers and four Shield Maidens.
If you're liking to set up the early clashes of 1066 then how about picking up some Late Saxons instead?
Late Saxon 500 Point Warband // The Barons' War: Conquest
This set comes with a command group consisting of an Eorl, Bannerman and Musician plus two Huscarls. You also get a Thegn, six Bowmen and then two sets of eight Fyrd armed with spears and shields. A great way for you to set up your defences at Fulford or Stamford Bridge.
An invasion force is also massing across the sea and seeking to conquer England to claim the crown. The Normans are on the warpath with a warband of their own.
Norman 500 Point Warband // The Barons' War: Conquest
Leap from your ships (or trip and fall like William) and start the invasion of Britain with a Mounted Commander, Bannerman and Musician alongside a Mounted Noble. You also get a Milites Sub-Commander to lead the way. Amassing behind you and getting ready to raze the farmland of the peasantry, you also have six Bowmen, three Mounted Millets, eight Millets with spears and shields and six Crossbowmen.
This allows you to get started in Conquest without having to worry too much about warband building. With the addition of the books you need, this seems like a good time to get started with The Barons' War.
Will you be snapping these bundles up and if so, which one?
