Warcradle Studios has been showing off a new Faction Starter Set of miniatures for use in the skirmish game, Mythos. This weird and wonderful world has now welcomed the terrifying Custos Crypta from the depths of the desert.

Here is the background for this particular faction which again, adds something different and unique into the mix for their game...
"The story of the Custos Crypta begins in the year 700 BCE at the height of the Kushite Empire when the authority of Pharaoh Neferkare Shabaka was considered absolute. Shabaka was said to be blessed by the ancient Egyptian Goddess Khepera. It was in Khepera’s name that Shabaka ruled, from Nubia to the Nile Delta and a blood sacrifice was made daily in his name. For this tribute, the Kushite Empire was gifted the service of the Custos Crypta, a sentient insectoid species that acted as both guardian and custodian of Shabaka and his people. But time and the treachery of humankind are the only constants in this world and Shabaka was murdered by his nephew Taharqa. The remaining Custos Crypta were entombed alongside their Pharaoh in the pyramid at el-Kurru, there to remain for the rest of eternity. At least that was the plan…"
In this set, you get miniatures for the Crypt Guardian, Victoria Taylor, Sara Heriot, two Crypt Grubs and then a Crypt Sham. All of the miniatures are packed with detail and would be wonderful to paint up. I like the idea of going with some bright blues and golds in the mix here alongside some lovely fleshy tones for those slithering bugs.
You could also have a lot of fun painting up those wings and shell casings with some of those shimmering natural paints which change depending on the direction of the light. A bit of colour shift can be handy to get the desired effect.
The Mythos world now features four factions for you to choose from so there is plenty of depth to this skirmish game of Lovecraftian horror.
What do you make of these revamped Custos Crypta miniatures?

Great Creepy Stuff, the big chap reminds me of the movie Mimic
Great looking figures for Egyptian tribe’s, God’s troops, or thousand son minions.
they look… buggy XD
Great stuff.
After the Thousand Sons ref it might be said of another IP that there are two Zerglings right there.
Like them, but a retcon is in place – originally set was Guardian (Mother Bug) and 5 Grubs. No Humans as the Crypta would eat them if they found them, ten start on each other (going dormant when one left – usually Mother). And then some idiot reopened the tomb, and Mother starts again.
New Mother is nice, and the Hybrid bug interesting. Not sure on the Human’s being part of it.
This games has a lot of promise
Loving these, show us more
Those look really good as well as interesting.
Yup, they are on the list. Anything that can evolve mid game can be very entertaining.
