The Cuddly Toys Go To War With Battle For Teddysburg From Slave2Gaming
January 13, 2017 by brennon
The Battle For Teddysburg is an alternative take on Civil War wargaming from Slave2Gaming and it's not only quite charming but looks like a lot of fun too!
This new range of miniatures, sculpted by Mike Broadbent in 18mm scale, come out alongside this new set of rules from Drew Edney that are available over on Wargame Vault HERE.
Importantly you need to remember that these Teddy Bears don't kill each other, they just re-enact the war and enjoy putting on their paws and stripes! Led by General George G Teddeade and General Ted E Lee they are ready to let the fur fly!
There are all manner of cool looking miniatures available for you to pick up from the Slave2Gaming Store including characters, artillery, infantry and cavalry.
The cavalry, in particular, look fantastic as they ride into battle on their hobby horses stolen from the toy cupboard!
The rules that we mentioned earlier are simple and easy to learn regimental rules that will get you going with these teddy bears. They are looking for suggestions and more from the community so if you give this a go let them know your thoughts.
Will you be checking this out?

This is an odd one. On one hand its probably the best chance I’ll ever have of getting my girlfriend into a historical game. On the other, the ACW was a dark time in my nation’s history that still has serious consequences on people’s lives even today. It seems a bit crass to give it such a “cute” treatment.
It just occurred to me playing this game on one of those teddy bear fur mats would be horrifying…
Firstly, thanks again for a great review guys. Very much appreciated. Korraski, I honestly hope that this range hasn’t offended. My love of learning about the American Civil War only began a few years ago, but I wanted to create an ACW army and game to go with it as soon as I started to read about it. Please take my apology, I am sorry if this has offended and no crassness was intended, I really just wanted to head into the ACW world without making it political, just making it fun. You hit it perfectly on the head, in… Read more »
@slave2gamming I’m not offended. The ACW just has a very long shadow here in the US. It’s mixed up in our politics and racial strife. My suggestion is to focus on the reanactment aspect to minimize people mistaking the games intentions.
Also if you haven’t already, consider making full playable armies available to buy in one go (I didn’t see any on the website). It’s great to be able to buy minis as you need them but I think a lot of people would appreciate being able to just get an army/starter force all at once.
This is such a simple yet amazing idea. Think of when you were young and playing games with any of your toys. I actually used to use teddy bears against my plastic soldiers as a kid. I think this is an amazing idea, obviously I’ve not seen the rules but if they’re simple enough imagine how many people you could get into the hobby at a young age, also the girlfriend thing is spot on. There’s so many possibilities too, the whole of history is for the picking on this. I’ve just shown my 11 and 7 year olds and… Read more »
Koraski, as we say here in Australia, all good 🙂
We do have regimental packs for both Infantry and Cavalry, they work out at AU$45 for 10 packs (a AU$5 savings), and the biggie, the Army deal which is 10 regimental packs for AU$430 (a saving of AU$70).
Dane001, the rules are only 11 page ATM, they might grow a little more with player input, but the main focus is for small, easy rules. And of course, lots of bad puns!
