Bring Cthulhu Mythos To Ancient Rome In Cohors Cthulhu Wargame!
October 25, 2023 by brennon
Modiphius have announced that they're going to be working with Alvaro and Francisco Erize, the minds behind CLASH Of Spears to bring their twisted and horrifying world of Cohors Cthulhu to the tabletop as wargame.
Cohors Cthulhu - Adventure Wargaming In The Hidden War // Modiphius
The wargame of Cohors Cthulhu (which is also a roleplaying game on Kickstarter right now!) uses the core of the CLASH Of Spears mechanics but reworked to make us useful in a solo and cooperative adventure wargame. Set in the Roman Empire, you're Legionaries and the Tribes you've been battling against must now face a new foe in the form of cosmic forces and eldritch horrors that serve the outer gods!
The game has been designed for solo and cooperative play where you'll start out as a lone soldier fleeing a horrifying ambush before you slowly build up your force of Roman comrades and tribal warriors who are having to band together against this deadly threat. Corrupted Germanic Tribesmen, Atlanteans and foul cults will be looking to make your day pretty terrible!
A range of miniatures already exist for the game thanks to the Kickstarter for the roleplaying game (as you can see below) giving you an idea of what might be coming with the full game.
Kickstarter Miniatures // Cohors Cthulhu
Games will be played out in small skirmishes using these 28mm miniatures that will be produced in high-quality resin and as STL Files. If you're someone who has backed the roleplaying game and already got some of the miniatures coming, you'll be happy to hear that rules are being included for bringing your roleplaying characters into the wargaming setting!
Watch out for the Kickstarter for this wargame coming out in Spring 2024!
Could you be tempted by a mix of Ancient Rome and Cthulhu when it comes to wargaming?

naaaaah….. I’m good. Thanks for asking though 😉
Interested to see what changes to CLASH that they will make, either taking things out or adding stuff in
Not keen on the figures but I am keen on the game system.
I have backed the RPG and am really looking forward to the release of the wargame. As well as the solo and cooparative game I do hope they also have a verses game.
This had been mentioned when the RPG was initially announced but nothing more was said when the KS was launched so i’m excited to see it’s still happening. Looking forward to it, especially as they’re releasing the minis as STLs which will cut the potential costs.
