Crush Of Iron’s Dwarf & Orc Factions Shown In Detail
October 25, 2015 by brennon
Alien Dungeon/Architects Of War have shown off a better look at just exactly what you're going to be getting with both the Dwarf & Orc army sets available for Crush Of Iron. The Kickstarter launches next week for this 15mm scale Fantasy game...
Both of these sets seem to offer you a range of standard Infantry as well as something a bit more special and some characters too. You can see the first stretch goal previews too including the Dwarf Wizard above.
While I'm glad to see another company trying to fill the gap left by mass battle game system Warhammer Fantasy I just don't think the models have won me over. I have been having a good hard look at these models and they just haven't grabbed me.
I felt the same way about All Quiet On The Martian Front and Fanticide I'm afraid too. I'm sure these models will appeal to some gamers out there. Maybe you can express some of your thoughts below and sway me?
What do you think?

They remind me of Rebel Minis Mighty Armies sets. Always interested in new rules but the models aren’t great so would probably go Demonworld or Blooddawn though these days there better selections in 10mm fantasy because of Warmaster in the past
Those are not bad at all.
To me the most important thing is not the miniatures but the rules. From the little I’ve seen so far, I’ll admit that I’m interested.
That said, I actually like the miniatures and I like that they have thought about making them fairly easy to paint.
The big potential of this imo is that the rules will be free and thereby making the game cheaper to enter for everyone. If the rules are great and they get good momentum on kickstarter this could become a very interesting fantasy wargame to fill the void.
Not sure I would go as far as filling a void. There are lot of element Wargames out there at the moment. I would as far as to say its never been stronger
I’d need a closer look but from what I can see they look quite nice to me. Quite an ‘oldhammer’ vibe to them.
I think if i was going to get into a new and smaller scale fantasy wargame I’d probably go for 10mm rather than 15mm though. If I was going to move away from the detail of 28mm the point would be to go for scale – in for a penny, in for a pound, and all that…
Still, I’ll be interested to see them in more detail.
The trouble we have is that there is a lot of fragments in this scale and genre. Take Bolt Action by Warlord games for example, a huge community from a company that support sand pushes the game. Their may be lots of minis and rules but they are not well supported and its not often a one stop shop.
If this company really pushes this game and miniature line it could create a great community with a healthy tournament scene. There is hope.
Minis look cool now lets see the rules.
