Critical Role Returns With New D&D Campaign 11/1/2018
January 9, 2018 by brennon
This one is for the Critters amongst the community (I know there are a few of you!). Critical Role returns for its new Dungeons & Dragons campaign this Thursday on January 11th at 7pm Pacific Time.
A completely new cast of characters will be heading off on a new adventure set many years after the trials and tribulations of Vox Machina. As someone who followed these folks all the way through their adventures, it's going to be both fascinating to see what the group do next, and of course sad that we bid farewell to the heroes that sparked the imaginations of so many viewers.
In the spirit of it, the folks from Critical Role also created this ace retro D&D poster...
Whilst I know a lot of us here probably don't do a lot of role-playing I would highly suggest you check out the first episode of this new series. Critical Role did a lot to inspire me back into creating adventures for Dungeons & Dragons and reminded me why it's my favourite part of the tabletop hobby.
Of course, for us over here in Europe we're going to have to be up quite late to catch this live BUT you will always be able to catch up a few days later on Youtube or via Twitch if you have a subscription to their channel.
Are you going to be watching?

I’ve been playing D&D for 30 years, but I’ve never seen a video of Critical Role. I never remember to look for it.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but they are a fun and passionate bunch of people. Matt Mercer is an excellent DM. The whole show is relaxed and full of humour, although you can feel the tension during certain ‘acts’, feels like a true gaming group, which of course they are. 🙂
I’m still on an episode from late August. I’ve been falling farther and farther behind. I loved Critical Role in the early days but as the campaign moved into higher tier D&D I started to loose interest. D&D doesn’t scale well into the high levels. I’m looking forward to a new and hopefully low level beginning. The cast really shines when they get into character and just have fun.
I started watching Critical Role early 2017 and was hooked. I didn’t really know what was going on as I missed a great deal of the story but from what I saw, the series was really compelling. Now with a new start, this will be a real treat for me to watch how things unfold from the beginning. Also, as a DM myself, I’ve learned much from watching CR (how to keep things moving, on track, etc.). If you ever played a RPG or never played one, Matt Mercer shows you what a game master can be capable of. Check… Read more »
Yes!! I’ve been hooked on Critical Role for about half a year. All of the players are great, and it’s really easy to come to love them, as they are so open and candid as people. Problem is, I still have about 300 hrs to catch up on! Still, it will be fun seeing them start out with new characters and a new storyline.
love these guys and everything they have done for RPG.
i’m looking forward to seeing were they go with this having no doubt learnt a lot from their first outing. real shame about the time difference, it would have been cool to have joined in live.
i’m with you Ben, RPGs and miniatures are my first love and are still what excites me most about tabletop. solidarity brother.
