Core Age Of Sigmar Rules & Faction Pack Pre-Orders This Weekend
July 1, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop are continuing to take pre-orders for the new edition of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar this weekend. Whilst last weekend was all about the Launch Set, this weekend will be for those who want to dive into The Mortal Realms via a different avenue with existing armies.

Leading the way is the new Core Book for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar which contains all of the information you need to dive into the latest edition of the game. Inside, you'll find plenty of new information on the eight realms and their geography with stunning maps and plenty of artwork. As well as really taking the time to detail the realms, Games Workshop has also worked to try and tell the story of Age Of Sigmar from a mortal's point of view, giving you an idea of what it's like to step into this Fantasy world. This follows on really nicely from the extensive work that the likes of Cubicle 7 have done to really furnish The Mortal Realms with detail.
As well as the background on The Mortal Realms and the various factions (including some sneaky hints as to what's coming next) there are also the Core Rules, Advanced Rules and more for diving into the game proper. You also have the new and updated Path To Glory rules which will be great for those diving into the more narrative side of things.
There is also another Limited Edition version of the Core Book which comes with a new cover and slipcase.

There will be a limited number of these available and once they are gone, they're gone. If you've not got the version from the Launch Box but you do fancy something a bit special then maybe snap this up.
For those diving into Warhammer Age Of Sigmar at the likes of tournaments or as part of proper Matched Play, you will also be able to pick up the General's Handbook for 2024 and 2025.
General's Handbook 2024-2025 // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
This contains the Core and Advanced Rules plus your Season Rules. There are special rules for this season of warfare which focus on your general's honour guard and retainers. There are also a "greatest hits" of twelve battleplans from previous editions, rules for universal Endless Spells and a Tournament Organiser's pack which could be helpful for those running events. If you've already got the Launch Box coming, you shouldn't need this but it's there for those who haven't dived in so far.
For those wanting to play the new Spearhead game mode, you can also pick up the Fire & Jade Gaming Pack.
Fire & Jade Gaming Pack // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Spearhead is the new game mode for playing out games using just one box of miniatures. Again, this is content that was available as part of the Launch Box but is available separately so you can use your existing miniatures just to jump in. It comes with the board, terrain, rulers and decks covering Battle Tactics and the Twists for both the realm of Ghyran and Aqshy.
All of the Battlepacks (rules) for Spearhead will be available for free online as PDFs. Additionally, each of the Faction Packs (coming out before launch in PDF form) will contain the Spearhead rules for the relevant factions.
Talking of the Faction Packs, inside those you'll find a background summary and the cards for you...
- Battle Traits, Battle Formations, Heroic Traits, Artefacts of Power, Spell Lores, Prayer Lores, and Manifestation Lores
It should be noted that the Orruk Warclans Faction Pack contains rules for the Ironjawz and the Kruleboyz in one set. There is currently no Spearhead though for the Ironjawz. This might hint at them getting a proper update soon. Free digital Faction Packs (so their new "Index") will be available to download for free soon before the new edition ends up in stores.
Last but not least, we have four sets of Grand Alliance Dice for you to scoop up.
Faction Dice // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
These give you thematic dice for the forces of Order, Chaos, Death and Destruction. If you've got a faction that you really like playing then you can dive in and represent whilst rolling. Having got some of these Order dice myself (as these are just repacked), they are satisfyingly chunky.
All of these new pre-orders are coming up this weekend giving those who didn't care for the Launch Box a good way to dive in and get your hands on the new edition of the game.
Will you be checking out the new edition via this alternative route?
