Para Bellum Wargames is opening up more options for those getting started in the world of Conquest. A new Starter Set is on the way for those looking to try out Conquest through their First Blood skirmish rules. First Blood II is coming soon!

First Blood II is an evolution of their skirmish rules where, instead of using a large army, you instead play with smaller warbands of around twenty miniatures per side. The focus of this new and updated set of rules is to make sure that every officer and soldier in your army plays an important role on the battlefield. That means using tactical manoeuvres and small-scale unit formations as you dominate boards covered in terrain.

The newest Starter Set (above) comes with two themed forces. On the one side, you have the Old Dominion, the newest faction to enter the world of Conquest. On the other, you have the colourful and powerful forces of the W’adrhŭn.

The fifty miniatures in the set are joined by two rulebooks for First Blood II plus guides for taking your forces beyond First Blood and into the larger conflicts of The Last Argument Of Kings.

The skirmishing of First Blood seems like a really great way to get used to the rules and world of Conquest before diving right in. It also allows you to pick up a variety of different miniatures and make use of them in smaller numbers. That's always a bonus for collectors and painters!
