Begin Your Conquest Of The Arena In Gripping Beast’s Jugula
April 24, 2014 by brennon
Gripping Beast have released a bunch of their Jugula miniatures and resources onto their webstore! The game of slicing and dicing for the crowds is nearly in your hands!
You can now get your hands on the rulebook, playmat (which is very sought after!) and the cards that you need to get gaming with this game. Of course no gladiatorial arena would be complete without some actual gladiators and those are also available.
A few people haven't had a lot of good things to say about these miniatures but I think they look great. The Gladiators themselves are all 35mm tall and made of metal. I think this is going to be an awesome campaign driven game that should evoke the feeling of the arena well.
Did you play this at Salute?

I picked this up at Salute. I’m glad I did as the mat looks like it’s gone up £5. I didn’t get the minis as we already have a load of gladiator minis so I can’t comment on how they look in the lead.

The mat is very good quality and the printing is very clear.
The minis are 35mm, cast in pewter. They are very clean sculps and the detail again is very crisp. All the arms have a decent deep hole and peg system to locate. Each figure cost £5.50and the minimum required is 4. The pack that they were selling at Salute for £25 included 4 minis and a host of different arms / weapons etc to be able to make up any of the various classes of gladiator. All in all the minis are a little pricey when you compare them to the 40mm of Front Rank but i think they are… Read more »
Once again I only got to watch this. I’m not planning on getting this game until later in the year, so until then I will looking out for reviews.
I’ll get one up on the historicals forum once it’s hit the table.
From the pictures alone I think the miniatures look pretty good, aside from the little pygmy one; it just looks a bit weird and the pose isn’t as good as the others.
I’m kind of interested in getting a Gladiator game so the question I really have is do I get this or Spartacus? I’m quite big on miniatures so that will definitely be a factor in my decision. I’d quite like to see a review of Jugula.
