Conquer The Galaxy With Hydra Miniatures New Imperials
November 28, 2016 by brennon
Hydra Miniatures has now added some rather awesome Retro Sci-Fi models to their range, ready to conquer the galaxy. See what you think of their Imperials.
We were really taken by the awesome look o the models which draws on 70s and 80s Sci-Fi and gives it more of a modern twist. The actual sculpting on show here is stunning and the painting is top notch too. Just look at that epic blaster pistol!
There are two different Imperial Officers you can choose from with their swords at the ready and then four troopers making up his squad. You could see them guarding the Imperial Palace on some far off moon somewhere as your heroes sneak inside to free their captive friend.
We reckon these models would be great for 7TV or indeed anything with a retro spin to it.
What do you think?

Shame they cost so much as I could see these working well as cultists in a Thousand Sons army.
Heck, they’d be great for 1930’s pulp/scifi like Flash Gordon. I also like that they gave them the bearded, olive tan, pointy helmeted look that makes them look that makes me think “Space Mesopotamians”. And the color scheme is nice too.
I like them.
It’s nice to see well sculpted models without silly poses or dripping in unnecessary detail.
Those look very Pulp sci-fi. Like something you could see in Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers.
Ming’s troops was the first thing that came to mind for me as well.
Time for some retro sci-fi gaming
There bringing out some lovely 10mm stuff as well
Yeah they look good.
Its a shame the Retro Raygun game isn’t more small teams battling it out (ala Kill Team) rather than a vehicle-less version of the 10mm game with loads of squads each side.
I really like them. I’m not usually into 50s / 60s / 70s SF TV, but I could also imagine these being used as 40K Rogue Trader or 30K non-Imperial troops. Say, the palace guards of some king or overlord on an independent world that either hasn’t yet been brought into compliance or – if set in 40K – is just a bit of a backwater and so a culture has been able to develop that isn’t completly overrun by the skulls and eagles of the Imperium we’re used to seeing.
