Clockwork Show Render-To-Model Cthulhu Comparison
August 3, 2013 by brennon
Clockwork Goblin have moved to prove that their 3D renders look insanely like their final products with a side by side image below. This particular figure is part of the Modiphius Achtung Cthulhu! line...
As you can see it's very close, if not identical, to the process that created it and while a few people were skeptical that doing it this way would lead to creating miniatures that just couldn't be done when it came to casting this proves otherwise.
On another note, this is an awesome looking figure and the paint job isn't too shabby either! What do you think to the growing trend of 3D renders to traditional sculpting?
Let me know in the comments.

Am sure I could make a sculpt that would be unsuitable for casting.
Whether traditional or computer rendering, understanding the casting process will be an important factor, I would have thought
You’re absolutely right- I spent both time and money solving the issue of what can and can’t be cast. We are there now, but regardless of the medium, you have to approach the sculpts with the final moulding in mind, despite the craziness of some of the concepts you get given! It is totally possible to print something that cant be cast. in fact, we have been asked about doing just that but it is one expensive way to get a mini!
Glad you liked the model 🙂

I don’t like it!
Nazis are scary enough without being Cthulhu Nazis!!! lol
Yeah it is super. And as Ben said well painted too
