Clockwork Goblin Let The British Automotons Off The Line
November 6, 2013 by brennon
Clockwork Goblin have some epic looking British Automatons coming to the tabletop pretty soon. See what you think of these previews below including a scale image to show them towering over allies and enemies alike.
These are pretty mega soldiers and I reckon they would be a good compliment for the Bolt Action line. You could have a lot of fun making up some crazy weird world war armies.
As well as these 28mm versions they also have some 15mm that could be used with Flames of War models and some of the existing range from Clockwork Goblin for a bit of crazy warfare.
I am pretty impressed with these mighty robots and would love to see some more variants!
What do you think?
I’ve liked everything I have seen by Clockwork Goblin, until now.
Why would a robot be wearing a helmet?
Why would it carry a belt fed machine gun with the belt hanging loose?
How long a belt can it attach before it starts treading on it?
How often does it then need to reload?
Where does it keep the rest of it’s ammo?
Sorry, I think they look stupid.
@amazed it’s allies propaganda. I can only imagine the grainy olden style broadcast voice booming out over the battlefeild “FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY” It would be a symbol of allied strength.
The Helmet is so the allied troops can relate to it. And the ammo, well I’d say this isn’t going to be hitting many Germans anyway. Have it walk at the head of an assult unleash its volly, inspire the troops and distract the Germans. Keepin’ our boys alive and high spirited. Job done in my book
The head would need to be armoured to stop the eyes/camera/whatever getting damaged so welding a helmet you’ve got loads of lying around would be an easy solution to that problem.
Belt fed vickers…. I’ve got nothing, but I like it. Also like the height of them, no solid state electronics in weird war 2. 🙂
The Helmet could be there for a few reasons.
To make the more human elements of an army feel more at ease, what with it wearing the iconic British soldier helmet or to help people distinguish which army these robots belong to in the first place.
The weapons? Make a case that these robots have just ripped them off emplacements or the top of tanks and are now using the guns against their foes? Perhaps they just pick up further weapons as they carry on in battle?
