Claymore Castings Get Ready To Loose English Bowmen
November 15, 2019 by avernos
Claymore Castings has previewed eight new English longbowmen for release in December. These will be released in two packs of four to supplement the two existing packs of archers
I'm been a fan of Claymore Castings for years, the miniatures are always beautifully detailed and very well cast and these are no different. They are brimming full of character and even in static poses there is a realism and dynamism throughout the work.
Ready.
Nock.
Draw.
Loose.
As you can see they are a terrific bunch of figures and I have been casting around for a reason to pick these up. Or maybe I should just pick them up and then look for a reason down the line...
Do these hit the mark for you?

They really are beautiful figures. When I saw you add the company earlier I was surprised the company had never been added before
so was I, I blame Rob
WOW…just wow
Precisely what I thought 🙂
Some great noses on these guys, two which look to have been broken earlier in life (Mr Nock and Mr Draw). Anyone know the sculptor?
Matthew Bickley.
yup the same gentleman who is also doing the Scots I showed earlier
Well there both near enough still the same company
The problem with claymore castings is that David Imrie is such a fantastic painter it just makes me wish I had them all
yes! i think i bought some other bowmen from them lovely chunky models
It’s the fact the archery glove/tab is modelled on the figures (can’t remember the last time I saw that in 28mm) that blew me away.
Did Matthew Bickley do the earlier sculpts (there does seem to be a change in style)?
I think the very early sculpts were Paul Hicks, if you look there are 4 archer packs, pack 1 and 2 are very different. But I’m not sure.
I bought the Gallowglass from them before they shifted to Antediluvian Miniatures and I’m sure they’re Paul Hicks
Front Ranks do as well. At least some of them do
Great looking figures.
Absolutely smashing work!
Great looking miniatures! Fantastic details, will be following these guys from now.
those are nice sculpts
Amazing figures!
Have had my eye on some of claymore castings stuff for a while now!
Just need an excuse to get some!
The details are very nice.
Cracking looking minis. Beautiful sculpts
Man these are so dope.
Fantastic!
I have looked at Claymore before a while ago. Have to look again. Website photos can be deceiving. Trouble is I really like Aventine and Victrix for the detail, and they are (slowly) expanding their ranges. These are stout, sturdy fellows, no doubt, especially the arrows! Victrix spears, javelins, etc. always look more realistic to me, but the weapons can be a little fragile (solved by keeping a supply of metal spears and pila on hand). How is the metal on these (not brittle) because the sculpts are great and they look like a miniature that can withstand some use… Read more »
