Classic Lord Of The Rings Miniatures Return To Middle-earth
January 11, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop is returning to Middle-earth again this weekend with the re-release of some more of the classic miniatures from their old metal range. Heroes of good are at the forefront and if you're very much into the saga of the Ringbearer then maybe this would be a good starting point.
Frodo, Sam & Gollum // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
Shop Middle-earth @ Store.OnTableTop
This set is one of those that might have passed a few folks by but it would be a good way to play out those final moments around the summit of Mount Doom. If you're a dedicated Lord Of The Rings fan then it would be good to have these to round out your most likely expansive collection of Frodos, Sams and Gollums!
Elven Legends
As well as Frodo, Sam and Gollum you can also pick up some of the Elves of legend that fought for Middle-earth. Haldir gets a rather heroic death in the movies but if you fancy using him to clear the woods of Uruk-Hai then there is this set here.
Haldir // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
This set gives you Haldir with sword at the ready or with bow in hand. Whatever weapon he uses I'm sure he will be able to make sure the servants of evil don't find their way into his lady's realm.
Sticking with the theme of mighty Elves we also have this set which offers up Gildor Inglorion & Glorfindel!
Gildor Inglorion & Glorfindel // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
Gildor is a pretty overlooked character but he is a damn fine addition to an alternative adventuring party. The same goes for Glorfindel who would have been an excellent addition to the Fellowship if you wanted to play a bit of "what if?" on the tabletop. Much like with the Ringbearer set above, these might have been some of the miniatures which just passed you by back in the day.
Terrors In The Dark
Before the Hobbits even made it to Lothlorien or Rivendell they had to pass through the Barrow-downs. In the books, they ran into these terrible spectres and had to be rescued by a certain someone!
Barrow-wights // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
These Barrow-wights join a selection of Dead Marsh Spectres and even some Black Riders which will also become available to order this weekend. It's always nice having a trip down memory lane with these Middle-earth miniatures although I would still love to see them making some new models too!
Are you going to pick up some of these classic miniatures?

Gildor Inglorion of the House of Finrod
As soon as my FLGS has them in stock, I´ll get them. I´m so happy with the ongoing support for this fantastic game and range.
Nice to see those back.
Nice looking figures.
The elves are a must buy – always regretted not getting them first time round…
Nice to see the gradual re-release of previously discontinued models. A chance to fill the odd hole in my collection that I missed out on first time around. This time it’s the turn of the Haldirs for me. Although I’m tempted by the wights. I already have 4 painted up, but they are some of the best-sculpted models in the range in my view, and take me back to their release with the first “book” supplement for the game: Shadow and Flame. I can remember how excited I was back in the day to see the whole Barrow Downs episode… Read more »
