Cigar Box Battle Mats Takes To Kickstarter For Help To Create New Mats
June 22, 2018 by stvitusdancern
Cigar Box Battle Mats is back on Kickstarter with a new campaign that is designed to make their mats available to clubs and games stores.
However do not fret as they are not leaving out individuals. By doing a campaign this way they will use funds to also produce new designs that they have come up with: Dark Marshlands, Redwood Conflict (hmm... Star Wars Legion anyone?), Ice Planet, Barren Lands, Blue Alien Planet to name a few.
Each design will come available as funding levels are reached. Otherwise, you can choose from many of their already existing mats to complete your pledge. We own two of their mats and we think they are outstanding.
They are cloth and fleece like. It gives some texture to your playing surface. They are easy to fold and store away, which is nice if you do not have a lot of room for storage.
If you are looking for some nice variety in game mats why not get a few of your friends together and check out the campaign. There are about two weeks left at the time of this article.

Fabulous looking gaming mats.
Very beautiful!
Just looked at the Kickstarter page and I want…like…20 of the darn things! Sadly, this is hitting me at a low point in the budget (after some serious Kickstarter gluttony). But I’ve got a couple more paydays before this ends, so we’ll see.
But I’m definitely keeping my eye on the campaign.
They look great, but they aren’t cheap. Sad times.
they are excellent mats I own 6 and would happily recommend them to anyone. Easier to store than the neoprene “mousemat” style mats and if they do get a bit grubby you can bung them in the wash. Colours are rich and the print detail is sharp. The KS is a great way to get them at a cheaper price than normal, and I feel they’re well worth the full price
But, they are fuzzy and not ridged. I find you cannot drag a figure with a base without catching on the fuzz. These are essentially blankets. Second, the idea is that you can put elevated pieces under them to make hills. The problem is that those hills are then not sturdy and figures easily fall over on a hill. If you like them great, I have not been happy using them.
they make fine hills if you’re playing in a proper scale. Since I’m not 5 anymore I rarely drag figures around a mat making bruum bruuum noises
I had an opinion you didn’t like, you answered with an insult. Good day to you.
sorry you thought it was an insult, I was just taking the piss. But I’ve had a mat for many years now and never had an issue with them.
