Check Out The Stretch Goals Of Mantic’s The Walking Dead
February 5, 2016 by brennon
Mantic Games have been doing exceptionally well with their The Walking Dead: All Out War Kickstarter and so we thought we'd show off some of the Stretch Goals that are unlocked and those that lie ahead...
There are plenty of survivors and walkers for you to get your hands on as part of the campaign via stretch goals. Here is a selection of the latest ones...
I like that they're now adding Michonne into the game with her deadly katana. While I know that they only have access to the comic books it would be nice to see them do a little nod to The Walking Dead game at some point with Lee and Clem (if they can get away with it of course!).
Have you backed this to the hilt?

Still a crap deal for $125. Better get a lot better or there will be a lot of upset backers or a lot of dropouts on the last day.
I don’t disagree as such, is nothing like any of their other kickstarter projects deal wise, but given its a licence I think it’s more fair to compare to something like ffg’s imperial assault. At which point it stacks up relatively favourably.
I think they overestimated the support the project would get. Only a couple of stretch goals have gone which after the initial rush is poor. I think they need to reconsider their approach to having addons.
Except all the thick, high-quality cardboard tiles, cards, custom dice and tokens. Oh, and FFG’s sculptors are ridiculously better than Mantic’s.
Even when Mantic tries to do thick-card tiles and cards they fuck it up. The components for Dungeon Saga are some of the cheapest, low-effort crap trying to masquerade as ‘quality’ I’ve ever come across.
Currently for $125 it has: Rulebook + Quick start Guide 31 Miniatures + 10 loot markers 64 Assorted Cards Some card tokens (they don’t tell you how many) 2 Paper mats 11 dice plus bag And for $100 (£25 less) Imperial Assault gives you (according to FFG site, ive never seen in the flesh): A learn to play rulebook, a rules reference, a campaign guide, and a skirmish guide 34 detailed plastic figures 59 double-sided map tiles Eleven custom dice Over 250 cards Over 150 assorted tokens The Luke Skywalker Ally Pack and the Darth Vader Villain Pack They seem… Read more »
I’ve only occasionally been checking in on the previous comments as a backer, and while the value gets endless debate, there is significant number of people who are also regularly informing other backers that they are ‘once bitten, twice shy’ in regards to their faith in Mantic and the results of their other kickstarters once hindsight is available.
This being my first Mantic KS, I’m hoping for the best, and will hang on until the 11th hour to see how it all goes.
I’ve backed a lot of Mantic KS’s, and I have had no problem with them at all, I do appreciate that a minority of backers have had issues, but if you look at percent wise, were only talking a couple of percent that have had delays, whether Mantics or their own can be debated, but I do know some have moved address without telling Mantic and some have had some items missing. (which happens, human error etc). So you have a right to sceptical, but I think that Mantic does delivery what it promises and more.
I totally appreciate that, and I’ve listened to Ronnie describe the problem to us via his interview here, so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt, but that doesn’t stop the comment section from being somewhat toxic and unappealing to participate in. For those people who don’t know better, I can see why a quick read through the comments might make someone concerned about whether they are backing the right horse, and if Mantic’s business model with this was to base the expectations of the KS purely on the strength of the license, then I can also see why… Read more »
I’ve only backed one Mantic KS and that was for Dungeon Saga. I got everything I paid for and aside from some easily fixed bent minis I was happy with the product. I have backed quite a few other KS though and my experience of the comments sections (back when I still bothered to read them) is something similar to the kind of experience I get reading through Youtube comments. We’re backing Indie companies launching new product ranges, not ordering from Amazon, problems and delays arise. So if I was you I’d ignore the doomsayers. Mantic have got hold of… Read more »
I’ve backed a few Mantic kickstarters and while some experiences have been good, some have been very poor. Dreadball, which I think was their first, was alright, but they were still learning the game then. It was incredible value, even at the base game level, let alone after they had unlocked stretch goals. The rulebooks looked like they were laid out by an intern and the cards were cheap, nasty things, again designed by an amateur. Dreadball Xtreme was a bit of a letdown in those same areas, but also the campaign could have been handled better. There were some… Read more »
DS and DZ:I is why I’ll only back $1 to Mantic KS’s now for the ability to comment and see updates. I’d rather wait for a finished and released product to look at rather than take the risk of screws up (e.g. can’t be bothered to proof read) or changes mid way (e.g. material changes in DZ:I).
How sad, I quite like my experience with Mantic. No long wall here.
Mantic had great promise, its undead minis are still the best on market for look\cost\ease IMO Dreadball looked great, base set was fab. Expansions and new editions turned me off Kings of war, not sold on alpha as to me it was whfb light and I hate whfb. Its grown on me but I just feel 28mm is wrong scale for mass battles. Some sculpts and restic issues Dkh etc, great game with cheap components and some suspect missions Deadzone, great box set. Still haven’t played it Mars attacks, meh. Think your better off with deadzone, but some great minis… Read more »
