CBS Shows Off First Big Preview For Supergirl TV Show

Supergirl looks like it could be getting a run as a TV show as CBS have previewed a chunk of it in a new trailer which includes a look at the humdrum life of Kara Zor-El before she takes on the mantle of Supergirl and follows in Supermans footsteps...
Supergirl will be played by Melissa Benoist and will be donning the blue and red to fight crime, aliens and more in the show. From the preview we've watched I think it's a bit camp in tone but all superheroes have got that to some degree.
I reckon this could potentially be a good watch in the same vein as Smallville (Clark Kent and his early years) and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. We'll have to keep an eye on it though as US networks are notorious for pulling shows like crazy.

Its nice to see she has a soft side.
Given that the pilot wrapped at the end of March and CBS only picked up the show last week, then I would think all of that footage is from the pilot. It gives us the set-up to the series but not necessarily what the series will be about. The show’s creators have suggested it will be a procedural following a structure along the lines of The Good Wife. So Lucifer becomes Angel 2.0? only (hopefully) without 30 year old’s trying to be teens?
… yeah, that seems like a very big change from the lucifer comics (O ,o)

Bet the pilot will leak as early as Flash did…
Looks like secret identity wont be much of a feature so i wonder what the inevitable mid season and season finale’s will be, or if they will even have any real DC villains other than fan service baddy of the week?
Shame its not on the CW as tonally it looks like it would lead to a much better crossover with flash than arrow is, although it would be pretty much super glee at that point…
A crossover isn’t out of the question as CBS co-own The CW. They have said they’ve got no plans to do it, but if the ratings aren’t good then it wouldn’t surprise me if they tried it as a ratings ploy.
I can only hope that if it does happen its not a musical episode like that one from Buffy…

I like the main girl who plays kara, seems kind of goofy and awkward, which I wasn’t expecting 🙂
There is potential with this. And I am more fan of Powergirl than Supergirl.
Likewise, Mr. Char. However, if this turns out to be really good there’s no reason why there wouldn’t be some dimension hopping adventures. =)
I think this looks good. Interesting to see a female lead in the super-hero spotlight. DC have been doing well with their tv series lately so fingers crossed for this one.

this looks so good , I am not a fan of so many people knowing the heros identity , but it helps add some emo drama and allows them to move the story on.
Kara is my favourite hero , and this works really well in my eyes.
I’m ashamed to admit this but that actually looked quite good. lol
Really looks fun. I like the scene of her walking up to the bank robbers and then you see a cape full of bullet holes. Could be insanely fun!
It made me cringe. It was like they watched the SNL Black Widow trailer parody and took it seriously.
My only hope is that this was only the pilot – they have time to retool it for series.
I had the exact same reaction and the SNL sketch was the first thing I thought of as well This looks awful.I kept waiting for a voiceover to say something cheesy like “She’s a Smallville girl trying to make it in the big city”. I actually think it’s quite patronising to female viewers that the studio can’t present a female superhero without wrapping her up in this “Devil wears prada” knock-off.
OK at first was going to say you two are so wrong, then I watched the SNL blackwidow parody and I can’t blame you for what you said. The only thing worse I could imagine would be is making it entirely the “strong female role model” type that in truth is just a man’s character swapped with a lady.
