Perry Miniatures Bring The Irish To The War Of The Roses
February 11, 2018 by dracs
Perry Miniatures have released some new 15th century Irish, intended for use as auxiliaries in the War of the Roses.
According to Perry, quite a lot of Irish were brought over for the War of the Roses, with a large number fighting in Jasper Tudor's army at the Battle of Mortimer's Cross. They would also crop up on the continent as mercenary forces.
For obvious reasons, we love to see a bit of attention given to the Irish here. These models look fantastic and seem to fill a gap in the timeline of miniatures available for Ireland.
Perry have said that they will make some Irish cavalry as well, for when you want to play a game in Ireland's own tumultuous history.
Would you field an army of Irish, or bring them on as auxiliaries?

These don’t seem up to the Perry’s usual standard, particularly that twerking Kern bowman at the end of the line.
Very nice.
I’d love to get my hands on these! The battle of Yellow Ford beckons. The Irish religious wars. GALLOWGLASS!
GALLOWGLASSES!
Interesting note, the Irish picking the side they were on led to the punishment of Cork city losing harbour rights and it was demoted to no longer being the capital of Ireland at the time. I think…
